They just don't know breh. In the 90s the South, West, and Midwest were a big musical family.

Cats in the South loved Deathrow, Ice Cube & Mack 10,Too Short & E-40, C-Bo, Bone Thugs, Dayton Family, Do or Die, Twista, etc. The West and Midwest loved Scarface, UGK, DJ Screw,Three 6 Mafia, early No Limit, Eightball & MJG, etc.

That's why so many of these artists stayed collabin' and touring in each other's cities.

Im from St.Louis and I dont know any ni99a that DONT fukk with e4o Fonzarelli aka 40Water

Sick Wid It is a sub-division like Aftermath was/is to Interscope. E-40 is signed to Warner, and has been for a long time. Having a label deal is not independent. In that case Jay-Z was on his "independent bay area grind" with Rocafella Records.

Man, 40 been rappin on Sick-Wid-It since 88'-89' but the og distribution came thru City Hall records... By 93'-03' Jive & WB came lookin for him cause they knew some shyt was goin on up in the Yay and 40 was one of those reasons..Why u think Federal, Mailman and the 1st Click album came back remastered?? 'Cause Fonzarelli got so many hood classics his new fans just heard about, they wanna do the knowledge and get his ol skool shyt

So he was always signed to a label. Thank you for confirming what I said.

E-40 had a label deal for 90% of his career, which was the point of what I said. To call him independent is widely inaccurate.

Ok let's try it this way..If u look at the credits on any of his albums from 92-forward it reads Sick-Wid-It/??? The slash being the people pushin the shyt on a bigger scale.. Just like how Giant Records came to the Bay lookin for Hammer cause he was heatin shut up but he told 'em to come with a bigger number cause what they were offering he already made out his trunk...Again he never signed to nobody directly 'cause he always had his own shyt from jump which means for every song he wrote/spit he owns his publishing, royalties etc etc ..From City Hall-Jive he had the west coast-southwest/south/mid so all 40 needed WB to do was get the music out to the rest of the world

I Always looked at E-40 as the west coast version of Ghostface

A lot of brehs especially outside of up North don't rock with Ghost
because they just didn't understand or rock with his style

I put E-40 in that same category

I don't know about ghostface.

He is closer to rae since they both are known for their slang usage.
