They just don't know breh. In the 90s the South, West, and Midwest were a big musical family.
Cats in the South loved Deathrow, Ice Cube & Mack 10,Too Short & E-40, C-Bo, Bone Thugs, Dayton Family, Do or Die, Twista, etc. The West and Midwest loved Scarface, UGK, DJ Screw,Three 6 Mafia, early No Limit, Eightball & MJG, etc.
That's why so many of these artists stayed collabin' and touring in each other's cities.
Sick Wid It is a sub-division like Aftermath was/is to Interscope. E-40 is signed to Warner, and has been for a long time. Having a label deal is not independent. In that case Jay-Z was on his "independent bay area grind" with Rocafella Records.
While I've never listened to an E-40 album, all the tracks and features I've heard him on he's done thing. Even on some newer shyt he killing the young nikkas out here. However, my homies and i use to clown that "sprinkle me" joint back in the school days![]()
Man, 40 been rappin on Sick-Wid-It since 88'-89' but the og distribution came thru City Hall records... By 93'-03' Jive & WB came lookin for him cause they knew some shyt was goin on up in the Yay and 40 was one of those reasons..Why u think Federal, Mailman and the 1st Click album came back remastered?? 'Cause Fonzarelli got so many hood classics his new fans just heard about, they wanna do the knowledge and get his ol skool shyt
So he was always signed to a label. Thank you for confirming what I said.
They was just for the national distribution bruh ..40 long been doin songs with everybody on several different labels over the years 'cause he wasn't tied to nobody but the label HE started just like P & NL thru Priority 'round the same time or now Tech N9ne & Strange Music thru Fontana
My cousin loves this nikka. She's from Denver.dude is beyond trash and doesn't even make sense in most of his songz, does this dude have any real fans outside the bay

I went to school in the Midwest, and ere'body out that way rocks with the entire Bay Area.
E-40 had a label deal for 90% of his career, which was the point of what I said. To call him independent is widely inaccurate.
I Always looked at E-40 as the west coast version of Ghostface
A lot of brehs especially outside of up North don't rock with Ghost
because they just didn't understand or rock with his style
I put E-40 in that same category
