For years, was torn regarding having kids: the constant worry (societal influences), the potential headache (teen years), health (generational diabetes), etc. Have come to the conclusion that they aren't in the cards for a breh. This, despite many of closest friends thinking I'd be a great dad which further complicates the decision.

However, if they come, I'd be happy.

I know dudes that have children but are knee deep in child support payments and can't even see their children most of the time.

That's the positive thing about not having a family. You don't have to worry about that headache

When you hit your 70s your friends start dying so your wife, kids and maybe your siblings (if you have any) is all you have.
I work in a nursing home and see it all the time.

He ain’t lying about having a great network of friends. We all need people to rely on and socialize with. Everyone won’t end up with a wife and kids, but great friends become family.
