Do you think modern kids have as much fun as 80s babies?

No, glad I'm a 80's baby/90's kid.

This generation of kids is too stuck on electronic devices and barely go outside nowadays. Also pop culture (cartoons, educational shows, sitcoms, music, movies) were more entertaining.

I'm glad to be a 80s/90s baby.
No social media (well it was around, but it didn't have an heavy presence before Myspace).
Didn't stay in the house all day everyday.
Wasn't distracted by no phones and tablets.
Actually went out and interacted with the kids in my neighborhood.
Played video games.
Having sleepovers.
Overall having fun and not really worrying about growing up so fast and focusing on the world at that particular time.

no.

Imagine having unquantifiable amounts of information at your disposal, free fast internet at the same place you get obese off of Quarter Pounders and a seemingly unlimited “tv station” that can teach you literally anything and you don’t use ANY of it to level the fukk up — and upgrade your existence FOREVER.

that’s what this gen is and a big reason why they are in hell but it’s like the Ritz Carlton of despair. They can check out whenever they want but are gluttons for the bullshyt because they’d die in the real world.

Tell them this to their faces — even in the nicest way — and they will be suicidal.

This bytchmade era and the best tech ever just doesn’t mix.

Imagine a fraction of this tech being around during the Great Depression or post WWII when you literally got it out the mud.

Gen Z's ideas of fun is objectively bad and empty. We've engineered a generation of kids who are searching to add numbers to a vanity metric on social media platforms while pretending to have fun.

:francis:

Smart phones and social media have destroyed life for this generation.

This isn't just bitter old man shyt. Mental illness, anxiety, and depression among youth has skyrocketed, time spent outside the home has decreased, self-perception is far more negative, it's really ugly out there for them.

It must be hell growing up as a kid in the 2010s onward. Let’s review some things….

- Parents are constantly putting a fukking phone or tablet in your face damn near since birth, zapping your creativity significantly

- Kids don’t go outside and interact with other kids from around the neighborhood as much, thus zapping your social skills and ability to naturally read situations in real life significantly

- You got children creating parasocial relationships with people who live thousand of miles away from them that they’ll never physically see or interact with in an important manner

- Kids can possibly see their mom, teacher, sister, family member getting they cheeks clapped by a simple google search before they’re even capable to comprehend what sex is if they got family involved with sex work

And these were just the first few things that popped into my mind when reading the thread title. All the things listed can really rewire someone’s brain once exposed long enough that weren’t as readily available in the 80s, 90s, even early 00s, and it’ll only get worse from here as we start normalizing certain behaviors :francis: I haven’t even touched on the ADHD, instant gratification, and entitlement aspect of things that kids face more today than in the past

Yes. They got
  • all the modern conveniences of high speed internet
  • no existential threat posed by foreign enemies (RIP Gorbachev)
  • classic hip hop to listen to
  • the aids epidemic not being as deadly as it was
  • unlimited amount of entertainment not bound by TV schedulers

We had the benefit of witnessing and experiencing both era's, so we know the kids of today are missing out though they dont realize it.

I'd say we had more fun growing up in the 80s as kids, because of quality human interaction. Thats missing today with every kid buried in some screen.

Imagine having no internet :mjtf:
Nikka we had internet but that shyt was slow and got you yelled at by your moms for fukking up the phone line.

We had it good. You don't realize how bad the internet and social media fukked up society. I reminisce about them times man. Shyt was simple and people were more innocent/naive.

Everyone didn't have the main character syndrome, and clout chasing behavior running rampant today

These lil nikkas don’t know about fun… 80s was the goat era to grow up in…. Everyone outside in the summer.. block parties, Mary Jane girls all night long blasting on the speakers.. quarter waters, Chico sticks, now and laters…. A time when you actually had human interaction, you actually had to spite game to the chic you liked…

Foh these lil modern nikkas useless :camby:

Everyone here is listing the same few negatives but the amount of open information is unbeatable, I'm not active on social media and use it like a resumé so this presumed depression and narcissism doesn't affect me.
