Most brothas be cool and trying to build. Sounds like u watched to many movies OP...this is what happens when u get to know black men through movies like boyz n da hood, menace 2 society, paid in full and so on.
Im saying I don't think their behavior is a product of being black men. They just had a level of interest, and cut-throat perseverance for their careers that most don't have. Throw in some "luck" along the path and probably some deep seated mental health issues from a toxic upbringing that comes out in overcompensating or fear of failure, and you got the formula for a ruthless millionaire
Nas wasn't even willing to push his sound to pop radio in order to compete with his contemporaries, including Puffy and Birdman. I think he made a personal choice that that level of success, or "selling out," is not in his interest and he is secure in being the artist he is.
So to answer your question, no I don't believe our culture embraces competitive or self centered entrepreneurship. Nor do I believe we embrace rude behavior. Hell no. We barely embrace financial literacy like we should. If anything I'd say it's the opposite. Look at "new black media." We tend to be hostile and untrusting of people who are financially successful and assume they are part of a hidden agenda or conspiracy.
You romanticizing this race shyt way too hard bruh

Its an individual trait, the lens you're looking at this through is too broad when you should know way more regular ass people.what you mean too hard bro?
just thought it might be interesting dialogue for the AM crew?
but i hear what you are saying if you think i mean that black men are all this and that, thats not what i meant i am just wondering where did we get this "ill" behavior from? its not natural to africans.

Maybe if worded differently you may have a point on the rat race influenced dog eat dog mentality in the west manifesting itself as stunting and whatnot. But it'd still be wrong once you take situations like Nigeria and the greedy practices there into account.
The romanticizing is just a bad look in general
Seem like you're dealing with something personal.
Extremely low quality thread
Man you can't blame the west for that shyt. That country produces some brilliant people but doesn't flourish because of the desire of individuals to have monopolize wealth and lord over the impoverished. Its no different than being "hood rich", the wealth doesn't hit the same if everyone has it.this is potent.
but that treachery displayed in Nigeria is because of colonial wars and the after effects really so that's where a couple of these ill traits have been picked up.
why does coli think when someone says something not pleasing about black culture its automatically he must mean gun culture, relax with all that meet regular people. i co own a business and have a healthy social life. snakes everywhere.
this is about deeper science, like what you said about dog eat dog manifesting itself to us.
- smiling in your face while knifing you in your back (is a western world thing)
- being cold hearted and unsympathetic to anothers plight (is a western world thing)
- adopting harsh language and mantras like ie. "dog eat dog world", "nice guys finish last", "rat race" and etc. (is a western world thing)
- etc.
most our favorite people do the treacherous thing look at Jay for example, and the idols he shouts out and his ethos but this is bigger than that.
do you think that the black man has had to learn the unnatural treacherous ways? or we have always been doing it amongst each other too.
if you could provide some examples to prove your point please, props.
