Me and my girl was having an argument because she said years ago when we first got together I did something stupid and she called me on the phone to break up with me. I just happened to be busy so I couldn't answer. By the time I called back she cooled down.

I told her back then and even to this day I'm happy to be with her but I'm not scared to lose her. Life is going to go on either way. She said that was disrespectful because it sounds like I don't need her. I told her I don't need her but I want her to be in my life. I would rather someone want me over them needing me.

Am I wrong or being disrespectful?

I mean anyone would feel disrespected being told by the person they love that they don’t need them and don’t care about losing them :dead: especially the man that’s supposed to protect and provide for you, you could be getting murdered and he’s just sitting there like “I don’t need her” and just let you die. :dead:

It would definitely make me second guess the relationship.

nikka your answer was supposed to be: “hell yeah” :unimpressed:

Don’t be getting to all that shyt. You not wrong with your philosophy. But women just be liking to argue. Don’t step in the ooze. When it’s not that important just be like hell yeah.
This

I’ve seen men get they whole night ruined off some simple shyt by falling for the argument bait

Sometimes you just gotta play along & live another peaceful day. Women do not forget & will argue you down all night, make amends & bring it back up in bout a week :russ:

It won't mean much if you get responses from men in this respect. We always have to walk a fine line between being callous and not caring whether a woman is in our life or not and showing that her presence is meaningful and desired.

If a woman thinks you NEED her to be happy it can he anxiety inducing. Its a lot of pressure to live up to and they often bounce when they get the vibe you need them more than they want you. Its too stressful.

Now if youre nonchalant about everything and don't particularly give a shyt, that can make her feel like "well why am I here then? I should be with someone who cares if I'm around or not"

Personally I think you handled it as a man who recognizes that nobody was put on this earth to be responsible for his personal happiness. Even your parents don't really care if you're happy. Its not as much of a priority to them as your health and safety.

You’re supposed to show her, not tell her...

First of all rule number 1. Don’t trust too much advice from some of these coli niccas cuz they slimey and really don’t wanna see you shine.

Remember that line from this Mobb Deep song

“…. Will your man’s be around when you need p*ssy?”

Secondly, the Goddess Queen @Ashley Banks was right and she had about the most sound advise from a woman’s perspective.

To answer you though, I don’t think what you said was wrong and I don’t think you had malicious intentions. But you were really good tactical at conveying the message you wanted to deliver.

And that’s where things get sticky. Sometimes it’s best to say less to keep the peace and the better half happy or do what the Honorable Beloved @Louisiana Fisher said and lie.
