A LOT of things come together to win a ring. It's a lot easier to find teams with "no superstar" that won a ring than it is to find teams with "Bad coaching and serious gaps at multiple positions" that have won a ring.

Good coaching while being strong at every position is usually going to beat bad coaching with 1-2 stars and serious position gaps, unless you have an all-time top-3 player...and even then it's rare.

The Spurs team in 08 still had Duncan and Parker at full strength. Manu played but was less effective.

That's still way more impressive than beating the fukking Hawks and Bulls
