Per ESPN's Trey Wingo: doctor has expressed concern about how Redskins plan to use RGIII in their offense.

Run the read option brehs :mjpls:

Told you this read option will do nothing but end careers early
RGIII without the read option is Vince young :troll:

What @wingoz also reports: Dr. Andrews does not want Redskins to expose RGIII's knee to punishment during games.

This is why you take the classic drop back qb like Luck over the long haul because hell actually be able to be there for the long haul :mjpls:
He hurt his knee on a scramble

I think the doctor crosses the line when he starts recommending what RG3 can and cannot do on the field. His legs are an integral part of his profession and he has to use them.
So a doctor crosses the line when he starts giving medical advice:dwillhuh:

Could a doctor say to a basketball player, "I'm worried about you jumping"?
If the dude's body is fukked up to the point that jumping could result in more problems, yes. I'm sure when Grant Hill had those ankle problems he heard similar stuff, which is why he sat out so long.

Since when is it a doctor's place to question an athlete's responsibilities to his/her team and sport?

Could a doctor say to a basketball player, "I'm worried about you jumping"?

Just patch the guy up and shut up.

:what:

Much the same way they should just trot a guy back out there after a concussion, huh?

"Well can you count to three, kid? Great well get back out there!"

But he didn't even hurt himself running the read/option. :heh:

The media has really conditioned some of you guys.

the wear and tear from the read option take a toll though. Look at how short the shelf life is for a RB.. QB's are more fragile and when you expose them to that kind of punishment they're gonna break down fast.

All that you just typed is speculation. He didn't hurt his knee running the read option.

The fact that he didn't hurt his knee running the read option has nothing to do with it. The Doctor is trying to say that now that he's had a major knee injury, he's damaged goods and running the read option opens him up to further risk.

Exactly. Dr. Andrews or not, maybe he should leave the football responsibilities to the guys that, you know, do that for a living. I doubt Shanahan or Dan Snyder hovered over Andrews in the OR, critiquing how he was handling the operation.

He's worried about RG3's knees being exposed to punishment? Uh, guess what Doc, he plays TACKLE FOOTBALL for a living. There are 11 guys that are trying to kill him every time he drops back to pass. Of COURSE his knee is gonna take punishment. No avoiding it.

But he runs! They run the read option with him! They need to stop that! Hmm, a big reason they drafted him #2 is his ability to make plays with his legs. Now you're telling them to not use him to the best of his abilities? Absurd. I'd pay to see his (Andrews') reaction to someone looking over his shoulder as he's performing an operation, and saying "uh Doc, I don't think you should cut that part. I don't think that's a necessary step" :rudy:

But doctors don't have coaches on their staff.

Teams do have medical professionals on their staff to give medical advice.

A doctor saying, "The team should be careful exposing their QB to more hits than the average QB due to his multiple knee operations" is part of their job description.

The coach doesn't have to listen to him, but it's the doctor's job to make the team aware of a player's health and how that health will impact the team and the player's future.

Just like a doctor saying "He's healed enough to the point that playing serves no additional risk."

Aren't his ACL's in both his knees completely shot to? I feel like Shanahan don't care to much about that anyway :manny:

Doctors for basketball teams don't look at a prospect before the draft and give advice?

Brandon Roy's knees weren't red-flagged?

DeJuan Blair didn't drop because he had no ACLs and doctors went :patrice:

Jared Sullinger didn't drop because of his back injury?

Even with trades, Tyson Chandler was traded to OKC a few years back, doctors looked at his toe, said it was fukked and the team nixed the deal.

This is the only offense he can truly be effective in. Without the read option offense, he is a backup, so they might as well run it until he drops.
