dont open the actual restaurant, what you should do is have something like an ice cream truck set up. It will lower your cost tremendously. Then when you got enough bread and clientele move on up to the restaurant

Was gonna say this, not only do you keep cost down but you can also become mobile if necessary. Take the business to the customer per se. Food Trucks are the wave right now.

How do you plan to set up shop and not know basic things like what kind of food/drink correlates to what area you want to market to.

Did you not read my initial post? I know EXACTLY what kind of food/drink relates to that specific area I have in mind.

my boy was seriously talking about opening a subway, but once he found out how much capital it requires to get it started, plus the fact you gotta work like 80 hour weeks to maximize your profits, he figured it wasn't worth it. you making a six figure investment, and you doin all that in order to hopefully make 80K annual profit :sadcam:

now if you worked a cool 40 hours a week or less and saw that kinda profit, that would sound good, but for 80 hour weeks, I'm better off working a 9-5 and only doing half the work.

also, if you really want to make bread with the subways, the trick is to own multiple restaurants, however, you're gonna need 7 figures to get that up and running.

Anyone here been through it? What are the ups and downs? I know all Restaurants are different depending upon the Demographics. I'm thinking about opening something small (healthy food, juices, and shakes.) Only having 5-6 tables to keep the rent relatively low, mainly concentrating on to go orders.

Whats happening bro

Obviously we're limited in the advice we give because each situation is different (location, menu, demographics etc) but I have run a restaurant before and here are some questions to consider

1- Location is everything. Where is the restaurant located? Are there other restaurants there? What are the demographics? Is it a high traffic/volume area? Is your restaurant visible from the main road? Is it in some run down plaza?

2- What is the previous history of establishments at that location?

3- Are you opening a new restaurant or taking over an existing one? If its the latter, why did the previous one fail? How well did it do?

4- Is this a franchise or independent? Who are your wholesalers?

5- Find out your operating costs. For example, calculate your rent and utility bills and divide that by 30. That is how much your restaurant costs JUST TO BE OPEN for the day.

6- What are your projected food costs? This depends on the wholesaler and the type of food you sell. Sandwiches for example have greater margins then pizza.

7- How much equipment do you require?

8- Is this a take out spot with a couple tables or full fledged restaurant?

9- Calculate your labour costs. Do you need chefs, cashiers, delivery drivers etc

10- What is your break even point? Your cut off point? Your profit point? How long are you willing to commit to this?

11- Are you funding the start up with your own cash or taking out a loan?

You think you're gonna ask thecoli for advice on how to run a restaurant and get good ideas? LOL. You're trippin.

One of my brehs owns a restaurant/club. First like 3 spots he bought went under. Fast. Like in under a year. One of the spots never even opened up due to a construction problems or something.

Guess his 4th try was a charm. But even now he makes most of his real cash off of the parties and liquor.

Restaurants can obviously make money, but i've never personally known a successful restaurant owner. They all go under. And its usually sooner rather than later.

i guess my only advice to you would be stack A LOT of bail out money. Like triple what you think you gon need. And be ready to dedicate your life to that for at least 5 years. 16-18 hour days and shyt. But if you can get it off the ground i'm assuming it'll be a decent hustle. Even with just food alone the profit margin should be nice.

I want to open a health food store, that sells fresh juices and smoothies. I seen a place in Jamaica, Queens like it. White folks love health food stores, all these new yogis and fitness brehs like eating healthy. I can sell coconut oil, aloe Vera, ginger tea, veggie burgers and Shea butter, and all the stuff that has multiple uses so I can get different types of customers.

Just a restuarant is harder unless you already have a following or you are selling something basic and popular like pizza or a diner. You should do what I mentioned above and also sell items in addition to food.

Well, it all depends. If your business plan sucks, then you are headed for failure.
But yeah, don't do it.

Its hard ass work. My homeboy opened up a crawfish joint in texas and the money was flowing in but it all goes back to business exoenses at the end of the day. Your shop might be smaller but you still have to do alot of legwork. Its exahusting. I helped him build it up and gave him tips on it but he aint listen. You know what u want to do of the rip so thats good. If u down to work for it and market it and know alot of people then do it. shyt go to different gyms and work out and chop it up with people and then let them know ur business. Word of mouth is the best marketing. Go on vegan markets on facebook etc. Need more advise lemme know. I stay in texas so lemme know.
