Does Kanye wonder if he'll ever be more successful in business than Pharrell?

A Bathing Ape has been around since 1992. BBC has been around since like, 2003.

BBC used to be exclusive when it first came out when Sk8thing was still behind most of the design. For those that don't know he was an early Bathing Ape collaborator in the 90s. The clothes were made in Japan and the prices were premium. At that point it was just a niche brand for boutiques.

Then BBC got bigger, expanded their distribution and shifted their production to China. You can find it everywhere from the Karmaloop to the hood sneaker spot in Brooklyn.

Nigo recently signed off as the creative director and head honcho of BAPE and sold it to I.T. 2 years ago for $2,000,000. Now he's on par to become the creative director of UNIQLO next year (and in my honest opinion, UNIQLO is probably going to rival H&M in the fast fashion market in five years). And we all know how big of homies Nigo and Pharell are (they recently released a BAPE/BBC collab capsule a couple of weeks ago).

It's still around, but they had to close down the LA store (the London store is still open and the NY store) and focused more on the Asian Market with stores in Hong Kong, China, Singapore etc. Not to mention Nigo has his own brand Human Made and A Bathing Ape now has such diffusion lines as Mr. Bathing Ape, AAPE, BusyWorks, etc.

I'm just saying, BBC and BAPE have been in cahoots since BBC's inception. Both aren't going anywhere soon, but the way you put the last line kind of made me think you thought BAPE was gone. It never left.

When I was in Japan my Uncle (a 40-something white guy with no style) kept telling me to hit up UNIQLO, the clothes in there were :scusthov:.

The Bape store was dope, all the tees were mad short though, and they don't let you try them on before buying them. Copped one for about $70 and only wore it once, fit was wack.

this BBC thing clearly looks like a licensing deal, though. Rocawear/Iconix pays BBC to use their logo/name and makes designs for clothes that BBC/Pharrell have to give the thumbs up to before its put in the stores. Alot of brands to that because the company licensing the brand can put the product in way more stores and has the distribution already set up. It's not uncommon for a licensing company to have 5-10 brands under their belt at one time. My homie works for a licensing company and they have about 5-6 brands right now. The deals usually run for 3-5 years or so and then they move on to another brand. But this is very common in the so-called fashion industry. Obviously the high end brands like Gucci, LV, dont do this because it would dilute the fukk outta their stuff, but DKNY, Tommy, Calvin Klein all do that shyt. Their brands have been built up to a point where they can "rent out" or license the name, and collect a fee for it.

That's what Power does with Wu wear.

He's just bitter that Pharell is having a phenomenal year in music and no one really cares about Yeezus.

Pharell just does Pharell. If you don't like him he doesn't get upset, go on rants, explode on twitter, nothing. That's why people don't really say anything about him.

Exactly!

Kanye is now becoming the person that can go into a room of the most diverse people from all walks of life, all cultures, all genders, all religions and can manage to offend every one of them in some sort of way. He has just morphed into the fame monster. He's truly in his own lane now because he's quite possibly the biggest egomaniac to ever grace the world period. That's why people love him and hate him. But at the same time Kanye brings it all on himself whether he does something or doesn't.

I don't know him personally so he can say and do whatever he wants, it really doesn't effect me. He just is spending more time on talking about himself and image than he is on making music that I like.

It is much easier to deal with Kanye telling you how awesome he is when there is a 'Graduation' style beat behind it....just saying.

I dont understand. if kanye is focused on music, how does he expect to launch a high end fashion line? it doesn't seem there would be time to be doing both. and he's always talking about a lot of projects he's working on including WTT2, and his next solo, plus a possible cruel summer 2.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
So that "bu bu but I didn't price the tshirts or Yeezys" and "I wanna be affordable" nonsense some straight bullshyt,or is his definition of affordable been fuked up horribly.:mindblown:...is Kanye lyin to the people:mjpls:?personally I think dude just don't have this as thought out as he thought he did, some people are creative minds but not neccesarily business minds....sometimes that final vision of what you want is so vivid, its a roadblock that preocuupys you from being able to take the steps to get to that final point. He knows what he wants as the end result and has thought about that many times, but it dont seem like he thought very much about everything in between that time....He may be thinkin 10 years ahead but that aint neccesarily a good thing:heh:
I was just giving my impression of what he's asking for.

Like everyone is saying, he wants to skip to the end of the rainbow. He didn't put in school time. Years of internship. Decades of design and making his own clothes. He hasn't made the connects. He hasn't put in the work.

But somehow he thinks "hey I'm fashionable, give me my own line" "I made some exclusive nikes, give me distribution"

Now I will say, the man did admit to putting in 12 million of his own money, for his dream. But you can't just throw money at something and expect other people, richer than you, to just fall in line for your wants and needs
