I like Dave East but just to join the fukkery I would 10 out of 10 Times buy a Don Q album over an East one.

Simpley put Don's lyrics, flow, and beat selection are all better.

Just the better artist, nothing wrong with being #3:lolbron: Lito is better than Dave East too.

:mjlol:

Don is a better bar for bar rapper than Dave.

Dave has better songs mainly because his subject matter is more diverse and his beat selection is better.

Y'all might not like this post but fukk it, here we go:

Trap beats are usually reserved for "dumbed down" , "mindless" subject matter. Trap beats are tailor made for stripclubs and shyt. Trap beats aren't really conducive to introspective, mature, deep-thinking type songs.

Trap beats usually causes artists to "dumb down" their subject matter and flow.

The very first time I heard Dave East, it was this joint:

This song is actually why I started checking for him. The beat is on some "grown man, mature, fly" shyt. This is some shyt I can bump when I'm 40. I don't listen to Dave when he does that trap shyt. It sounds immature to me.

Like others have said in this thread, trap beats are for the youngins. I'm not a youngin and I guarantee everyone in here wanting Don to spit over less trap beats are older too.

Don is a legit lyricist and us older heads want spitters to spit over beats that compliment actual spitting and more diverse subject and "mature" subject matter. Beats that puts us in a certain mindset. Personally, trap beats puts me in an aggressive mood. I tend to try to stay away from those type beats as much as possible.

I haven't heard this album, I'm just speaking in general.

exactly my nikka....nikkaz be dumbing down the lyrics and subject matter over that trap shyt man

Right. There are just some emotions that you can't convey over trap beats. It limits subject matter.

I remember this gospel "trap" record

Shyt sounds flat out cringeworthy:dead:

Certain subject matter and trap beats needs to stay as far away from each other as possible.

This is beat is better than any beat on this tape, dude is not gonna blow up with that fugazi trap shyt....hell honestly he aint gonna blow no matter what he does. I would prefer he make a project with the young boom bap producers, the track with Meek shows that is when he is at his best. Daringer, V'Don, P on the boards wasting their beats on subpar rappers would benefit from Q and vice versa.

Why nikkas always bringing up Dave East industry plant ass every time a Don Q thread is made :what:

Don Q the best young east coast rapper right now. The only weakness I see is he use that same flow on every song, it's cool for now cause he only a couple of mixtapes in but he gon have to add more flows imo

Dude isn't hooking up with Daringer and rhyming over drumless, slowed soul samples that ain't him. I wouldn't consider Lights Out boom bap that beat has trap elements.

He's not going to blow as in be a nationwide superstar but he'll be a street favorite in the East Coast and get some love down South. Don Q's shyt is in the clubs and on the radio.

I agree with this I feel Don has potential to be the better rapper bar for bar while East has the potential to be the better artist.

East has better concepts and more diverse subject matter while Q is better bar for bar and has better hooks. Truthfully, I wanna see them release a collab tape.

Yeah they need a group, they need a third NY dude maybe Joey Badass. I know they already fukk with G Herbo and that'd be cool to but I'm looking forward to these guys. Time to give this tape a full listen

:gucci: This ain't a trap beat. That beat has alot more in common with V'don's production than something I would hear Metro produce.
