On Sunday,
Ryan Tannehill had his first multi-touchdown, zero-interception game of the season, as he completed 25 of 32 pass attempts for 277 yards. The
Miami Dolphins ended up beating the
Chicago Bears 27-14, pushing them to 3-3 on the season.
Despite that promising outing by Tannehill, there are some stats that suggest he still has a lot to work on.
Per Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel, "Ryan Tannehill's 87.8 passer rating presently has him ranked the
25th best starting QB in the NFL.
"Tannehill is
ranked 30th among his peers when it comes to 4th quarter performance. 52.2% completion, 1 TD, 1 INT = 68.3 passer rating" and is "
ranked 24th in the league when it comes to third down efficiency among QBs. 54.5% completion, 74.8 passer rating."
It's no secret that performing well on third downs and in the fourth quarter are prerequisites for being a quality and successful NFL quarterback. He'll have to work on improving those elements if he is going to lead the Fins to a turnaround this season.
In the meantime, Tannehill is settling in as a decent fantasy quarterback and has a nice Week 8 matchup:

Long-term pickups for Week 8"The Dolphins' offense is really coming around. The offensive line is vastly improved from a year ago and is beginning to jell. They have started to really grasp Bill Lazor's new offense, and that goes double for Tannehill, who has been excellent since Week 4. A former college wide receiver, Tannehill's running skills are being utilized by Lazor in this zone-read attack. The fantasy results are superb, and could continue to improve. Tannehill is much more comfortable, and spread the ball around very well in the Dolphins' impressive win in Chicago, as eight different players caught at least two passes. Consider starting Tannehill at Jacksonville next week."
