Idk about the congestion, but i definitely feel safer in LA traffic than I have in other cities. Phoenix, for example, is like a damn speedway as soon as you leave the onramp.

I visit LA once a year from Dallas cuz I got fam out there. The traffic is not bad at all. I’ve driven everywhere in LA. Everyone is so chill on the hwy. In Dallas it’s bumper to bumper agressive driver. Traffic is way worse here

Driving from Pasadena to Long Beach was worse than any traffic I’ve seen in present day dallas after the population boom, and this was back in the early 2000s

Many of the freeways in Southern California were built before the Interstate Highway System with its numbered roads . They originally had names like the Santa Monica Freeway or the Hollywood Freeway. After the IHS was established, those freeways were given numbers but people still said the article in front of them. Thus the 5, the 110, the 710, the 101, the 405, etc. This is mainly a Southern California thing since Northern California says the I like the rest of the country I believe.
