Nairobi or Lagos is where I'm thinking I'll end up. I was reading a report that as of right now, Africa does not have it's first internet billionaire and they're expecting one to show up in the next 20 years. Let that sink in breh. It's very possible that one of us could potentially go over there, start a company, and become the next young Aliko Dangote.
That's real. I think what I would rather do is become a millionaire who creates 2000 millionaires than a billionaire. I can get more done with more people eating around me.
Fam Ive been trying to get my homies involved in this internet game but they dont feel me on it. That thread in HL about making paper online got me inspired last week. That lane is WIDE open for us and I'm about to dive head first in it. I go so many ideas off all the game in that thread. I want that to help me make the power moves I really want to make.
I already just started a business. It is hard work but IrishFury has been putting me on some game. I am learning.

That's all you breh, I'd rather be a billioniare, die, and leave my wealth to my pawg #c00nExcellence :ohlawd:

What you working on breh? I'm gonna be starting a couple blogs real soon. Plus I have an online business I'm trying to get moving. Also I'm doing SEO work for the organization I'm working with. Got so many fires cooking right now, I'm starting to feel like Lil B

No, I live in Atlanta. Never been to Detroit before.

In what ways are you radical? If you work in corporate America 5 days a week, and I'm assuming have never been written up or fired, I can't imagine you being that radical. And I'm not even trying to diss by saying that either. I work in corporate America and believe in repatriation. But I don't consider myself even remotely radical. My definition of radical may be different.

We need both sides of the struggle... the groups and politics and even the tapdancers.... .... and also small groups and radicals.

Since you're not part of any organizations, and you can't show your radical side because you don't want it to negatively affect your associates, what exactly are you doing to help the cause? This is based on the assumption that you believe something needs to be done about the condition of Africans in the US.

Also if you don't mind, what belief system do you hold that you feel makes you radical?
I have a few friends that are into politics. In politics people get into your life and background and associates. Most people don't take me as radical.. but my closest people know the deal because a couple of them used to be the same way.... So it's an unspoken agreement that I stay doing me and they do them.

I work in corporate America because that's were the money is... and revolutions aren't free... even if someone just wants to make an individual contribution to the cause.. they can't do shyt if they are struggling to feed their family. I quit 3 corporate jobs before I realized that the radical side of me will not allow me to do that rat race shyt that essentially will have me running in circles until I woke up at age 80 and haven't done shyt significant.

So I quit and even dissed a huge salary jump in another job - to just work for me and do me. Found out I could make it without all that. I rent corporate office space in a building with huge organizations... but my shyt is still my shyt. That's irreverent though, because I know many corporate people who do madd shyt.... for us.

I don't like Atlanta because the culture doesn't vibe well with me..... lol... some people are too superficial, too gay, or too wack. And we have madd gay guys here in detroit, but at least most our out the closet. I can't respect gay people who stay in the closet.

Anyway, I can show my radical side in many ways.. someone pm'd me to make a thread, but I'm undecided because of the type of site we are on. And I still go to many groups events... I go to events they have and even groups like the NOI, I attend their thing on Sundays every once in a while. There are hardly any black groups I don't fukk w, unless I just haven't heard about it or something. I support anything black for the most part. I just don't wanna end up like X, and say 'chickens come home to roost' and end up betrayed by people who I 'thought' were down. We as a people (even the conscious amongst us) are brainwashed like crazy... deep inside of us is hate that more than likely will negatively affect other black and brown people. ............... And I just don't have time for that shyt.

Why does what I'm doing have to come up? Why are my credentials in questions? I will let you know the tip of the iceberg since ur not the first one to ask... But after I tell you... you need to ask all the rest of these pro black posters the same thing that I've been asked like 100 times.

1. supported children and villages in Africa -(through individual and collecting group donations). You would be suprised at what a lil money can do for a whole village in a fukked up part of 'afrika'.
2. when i was corporate...I (we) were responsible for maddd young black people getting great jobs - most paying more than what I was making - hooked them up through my connections. Even some chicken heads who honestly didn't deserve to be hooked up. I would do slick shyt to deny white people jobs and careers... I only boosted black people, not because I don't want others to eat - but because they have people looking out for them and we don't.
3. helped with madd groups. With their lil agendas, even if I felt they were nearsighted and not radical enough.
4. I (we) did start our own group when I was very young... we had people in madd states (lol, well like 4 states). even when i joined the military we gained and were strong.... had nurses, businessmen, military men, all sorts of people with different functions.... but then we had the radical side (that I won't get into) We had people ready to murk off officials (if it ever came to that). But we had to give that up for 2 reasons. 1)we were too young we all had our phones tapped, were started to get into real shyt that we just couldn't handle it - basically like some young punks. 2) we were gonna be basically adopted by an international group. I'm basically the one that fukked that up. first off me and the leader of the group bumped heads cuz he wanted to add shyt to the front site that I didn't wanna add - so I didn't add it, cuz I controlled the site... and I felt that he was getting too tied up with more 'naacp' type groups and I (we) wanted to link up with 'more like old BBP' type groups. Then I made the mistake of taking on more than I could handle.. and all the black people came here we had a meeting they wanted me to open up a branch of some other type of group --------- but I was just a young dude. I wasn't cut out like Fred Hampton. Plus we were getting tracked like crazy cuz we weren't careful. etc. So we droppped that shyt to work on building our individual families up.
5. Working on developing a free technology program for black youth.... so they will learn to network or code at young ages (before 15) and build on that for the future. Technology will be the future and present. The group that mass produces the most people in that industry will be better off. Plus the average salary is usually more. And for those of us who simply don't wanna work for CAC.... then technology makes it easy to freelance without selling drugs. Anyway, this will be my legacy - probably take me 10 years to do it.
6. Working with an organization to buy properties(land) that are in the middle of nowhere. Idk how this will come in handy, but it might....
7. When I'm old I wanna be a community college professor. I feel that I can have a good impact telling them about information-- like the insight that is in threads like this.
8.. so I'm going to need you to ask the other black posters what they do..... and then say what you do.

We could compete extremely well in Africa. Unfotunately the majority of us has had an incredible education in white supremacy and black inferiority to the point we want absolutely nothing to do with Africa. The majority of the worlds black billionaires are Nigerian. But yet when we discuss ways to make money, no one ever says "Let's take a trip to Lagos and see how we can invest our money." From what I read, Nairobi is the the Silicon Valley of Africa. I'm in IT and please believe I'm planning to go over there and start up a consulting firm.

But instead of fighting to hold on to our birthright, we'd rather stay in the US and fight a war we're not even remotely prepared for.
So.... Nairobi.

What is it like?

First off that's a long ass post breh I wasn't expecting a dissertation :whoa:

I always ask cats that question because the dudes who are the most critical seem to be the ones who do the least amount of work. And I'm a firm believer of being a collective so if they're not doing anything, but are interested, I always hit em on the PM with some orgs they can join in their city.

I'm a member of the UNIA. The most important thing I'm working on now is teaching classes to get dudes in the hood into a career in IT. Basically I'll be teaching courses about various IT certifications and help them come up with a career plan. After Atlanta, we'll be doing it nationally, then in 3 years or so, do the same thing in Nairobi (one of the members of our branch does repatriation tours so he know a lot of people on the continent). My goal is to make IT an African industry.

So.... Nairobi.

What is it like?

Never been. I started researching because I received a job offer there last year as a network engineer. That's when I realized it was the technology capital of Africa. I really considered moving, but I'm taking caring of my moms financially and am about to adopt my nephew and his sister so I can't take a massive pay cut (more than 100k less) and just up and leave the country as I could a few years back. I'm gonna visit next year though. Nairobi and Ethiopia are the 2 countries on my list.

I'm still planning to repatriate, but I just have to be strategic about instead of jumping on a plane and just saying fukk it.

I'm not charging them, that's something I'm doing just to make sure their site continues to rank well in the SERP, as well as receive even more traffic.

I'm a security consultant by trade, so SEO ain't even my area of expertise. I just took on various leadership positions because need was there. I actually have to meet up with the dude this week to discuss the migration plan for the site, as well as some other online initiatives I think we need to start.

I feel that- technology teaching in Africa. I don't really have too many 'real' contacts there. My business partner won't go w me to push the technology in Africa stuff. idk what's wrong with him...... but I know madd people that live there and I even have some people I communicate with in a few nations... but they aren't my friends... and they aren't 'real' connects. They are just software users.

Also, I think more people should teach certs in the hood. I'm glad you guys are doing that.

Alot of great info in this thread. I don't have anything going on right now as I've been helping with my mom who had a stroke in 2011 and is trying to get a job but I've become really inspired by this thread to want to do more and get into wanting to start a business someday and also start networking and getting with black business minds. I've been thinking of going back to school for graphic design. A spark has been lit and I would love to start building with some of you guys.

lol, you asked the question.. that's the answer. And I'm not really critical...... above that I said we need everyone...

I appreciate the meticulous nature of your post breh, but not everyone on this site is the READING type if you catch my drift :usure:

I feel that- technology teaching in Africa. I don't really have too many 'real' contacts there. My business partner won't go w me to push the technology in Africa stuff. idk what's wrong with him...... but I know madd people that live there and I even have some people I communicate with in a few nations... but they aren't my friends... and they aren't 'real' connects. They are just software users.

Also, I think more people should teach certs in the hood. I'm glad you guys are doing that.

It's deeper than just teaching certs though it's about starting to build true communities:

  • Make sure all the students get their direct deposits sent to a black bank
  • Have the bank teach courses on financial literacy to make sure they don't start blowing money on rims and other dumb shyt.
  • Incentivize the students to stay in the community once they get a new job
  • Incentivize them to spend their money with other black businesses.
  • And some other key critical initiatives like making sure they get an account on the coli :lawd:

There's another group we're working with that got a pretty simple yet effective plan to just all of the community based stuff (supposed to meet the head of that organization pretty soon), and I'm gonna help them on the technology side of it as well. Atlanta is pretty much ground zero for this shyt and I'm pretty much using Dr. Anderson's blueprint (which is why I want to hire him to come on as a consultant to give us guidance).
