I agree with everything you had to say, what impact did 2001 have? Like I said RD is consistently ranked among the best hip hop albums of All-Time, I've seen it on several top 15's the same can't be said for 2001.

2001 had a huge impact on the landscape of hip-hop when it dropped in 1999 it was the return of dre and the catalyst of the rise of the aftermath era. which spawned a WC resurgence from 99-02 ridin the wave that 2001 created, xzibits breakthrough and most succesfull album "restless" which is nearly @ 2 million sold exec produced by dr dre, as well as snoop dog's 2000 release "Tha Last Meal" the return of snoop linkin back up with dr dre on his own album and going back to the WC sound after his 2 No Limit Releases. and with the momentum the dre reunion sparked the revival of "tha eastsidaz" who were FT'd on 2001.. they released their debut album "Snoop Dog Presents the eastsidaz" in 2000 and went platinum, also.. in 2001 dr dre, snoop dog, eminem and the eastsidaz Starred in the Movie "The Wash" also in 2001 snoop and the eastsidaz had roles in the movie "Baby Boy" the ripple effect these artist recieved from 2001 translated to there own buzz and mainstream appeal. we havnt even got to Eminem who went from a multi platinum rapper on his debut to a diamond selling artist with help from the exposure that "2001" gave him..

impact its one of the most impactful releases of all time and set up the most popular era in hip-hop history

only street-loved albums to come out of aftermath were GRODT & the documentary.

lyrically, RD has an edge
production wise its not close

in the real world, theres no comparison between these albums

You're giving credit to 2001 that it doesn't deserve - and moreover, everything that you stated above does not equal a "huge impact on the landscape of hip-hop".

I do agree with you that the WC had a small resurgence after 2001.

Xzibit enjoyed his most successful release (although this was largely due - IMO to his collab with Snoop on bytch Please). I don't believe the songs he was featured on for 2001 ended up as singles. But I'll give you that 2001 played a role in Xzibit blowing up.

I don't think Snoop returning to his West Coast sound is attributable to 2001 - I think that was inevitable.

The Eastsidas having and impact and the movies is just a huge stretch. You really think those movies got greenlit b/c of 2001 alone?

But the biggest stretch of all is trying to attribute all of Eminem's success to 2001. Eminem blew up b/c he was white and could be marketed to a white audience. Period. Sure he was talented and made some great songs - but if he wasn't white he's Canibus/Chino XL status. 2001 was negligible to his success - MMLP goes platinum with or without it.

2001 had a minor impact at best.
