I will never understand the hate this album gets on The Coli, shyt was dope IMO... not on the level of Chronic or 2001, but still a great project.
Not really surprised,Dre has a name and it was supported by the movie's publicityThe interesting thing is that it sold well and got good reviews.
pretty much what I came here to say. I still bump the album. shame they didn't release any music videos though.
I get that people call it "artsy" or whatever if compared to other Dre albums, but to me the same label dropped a really "artsy" album in TPAB before it, so Compton was a lot more 'traditional' when compared to KDot's effort.
Artsy probably isn't the best word to use but it got my point across.
Kendrick is the style of artist to put out a Compton and TPAB. Dr Dre not so much. He is a catchy, westcoast gangsta rap, single generating powerhouse.
It went from 'fukk The Police' to a thesis on how police brutality harms the community.
Musically the album was done well, well thought out. I do see why people were let down by it based on expectations and assumptions it was Chronic 2015.

Nowadays if it's not a classic it's wack...but it's mind boggling people didn't like:
Genocide
It's all on me
all in a day's work
Darkside/gone
Deep water
One Shot One Kill
Just Another Day
For the Love of Money
Animals (Best song on the album... DJ PREMIER!)
Talking to my Diary
The only song i wasn't crazy about were the trap music attempts like Talk About It....Not crazy about the Ice Cube track either, but he had him sounding GOOD on that shyt...I don't know what people want anymore
