I don't think it sucked. I had to listen to twice. It was average. It seemed like he steered away from the west coast sound though.

Thats one of the reasons it sucked to me/was such a huge dissappointment:
He didn't really create a "west coast Type" sound, it was too heavily influenced by this trap garbage, shyt seemed like a mix of different styles with too much of the current shyt and in the end it came out sounding overproduced and all over the place.
Another factor was the influence of this fakkit kendrick lamar, all over the album. I cant stand this dudes wack voice changes & flows but hearing dre attempt the same style was incredibly cringe-worthy. Dude sounded like someone completely different smh
And the guests also werent up to his usual standard. I mean come on, this Justus fakkit ? King Mez ?!? Wtf did they contribute to the album that was really outstanding ? On dres previous albums you had dudes like Snoop, Kurupt etc. kill their parts but here, just mediocre to wack parts & hooks by these new guys. Even the parts by for example Snoop were lackluster, especially when he also followed dr dres orders and used a kendrick lamar flow on his verse which also sounded mad awkward :scust::mjlol:

Yeah, Dre trying to sound like kendrick sounded weird as fukk. He needs doc back in the studio writing for him.

He's at his best if its the same writers as on the original chronic. Snoop & Doc. He sounded very comfortable back then, nothing forced about his delivery. The compton album is the exact opposite.

I respect Lamar because he came into the game with something different. Not the typical bang bang shoot'em up I'm from cpt shyt.

I'm not the biggest fan though his music is hit or miss for me. Maad city the song was dope though. :whoo:

Yeah to me dre was doc's voice since he wasn't able to rap anymore.

Your right they adapt their style, but it just sounded weird hearing Dre trying to flow like Kendrick.

Warren G was responsible for some of the samples.

yeah true. But 187 actually has songs made before Chronic using some of those samples Dre used. I think Dre mentored 187 and probably really liked 187's sample selection so he snaked some when he left Ruthless
