Quite often when I hear/read about these "woke" brehs I'm like "What/where are they talking about?". I mean I was in CAR until I was 16, been to a couple of other African countries, been known Africans here in Europe for decades...I don't know, there's this image of how "THE AFRICAN" is/should be that really echoes conservatism and essentialism and that doesn't fit with what little I know/have seen. Now I'm far from knowing everything of course, but simply going there and being around Africans you understand how diverse and complex it obviously is. From Dakar to Antananarivo of course it's gonna be diverse. It happens in the diaspora here too where some build up this mythical "Africa" in which we obviously ALL were Kings and Queens. Nah breh, I actually know my story, there's no royalty whatsoever in my blood.
