im confused none of my pawns show signs of dragonsplague

But i rewatched the couple of the castle cutscenes and none of the characters had glowing red eyes like they did in my game. It seems like some of the story npc’s are affected with it but no one in my party is

Had to give an NPC the talking about his only grandson got snatched by wolves. I just reached the damn town and my main pawn got clapped and I almost died myself in the process. fukk that boi, I'm finding the rift and inn first.
