I know what he's really doing and I can't be mad at him. Nas does the same thing these days.

*Insert flavor of the moment rapper* is hot, he's lyrical, I want to work with him.

Get that money premo :jawalrus:

Tdot.. till the death of me
Deep down everyone knows drake brought it bak to some degree...they just dont like his image and refuse to accept that a guy that look like him could bring anything regarding hip hop back.

No one saying drake is the best rapper of all time..you have to take into consideration his competition wasnt really sayin nuttin. Especially when he first came out. I mean who was he really competing with besides soulja boy and all the other bullsh!t rappers? Wayne was the biggest rapper out at that time and his lyrics were beginning to fall off from that huge buzz he had with carter 1 and 2. Bullsh!t rap was becoming more popular then lyricsm...shortly after drake came out with that huuuge buzz..without a dance, or gimmick record...a new wave of rappers started getting more radio play..labels felt more comfortable pushing rappers who arent gimmicky...why? Because drake was still able to go plat sell out shows and be nominated for grammys without a gimmick!

.lyricsm has always been there..its the media and record labels that chose to favour the bullsh!t rap..so sayin drake brought lyricsm back is jus sayin he made it more popular then it was at that particular time ....which isnt as far fetched as alot of these idiots would like to believe

nikkas are just hating because Drake is not the type of rapper they want him to be......on the mainstream level I have one question...WHEN SO FAR GONE WAS RELEASED IN 2008 and going all the way to 2011...what other mainstream newcomer rapper is and was fukking with Drake on the lyrics side.....

And I'm not even a Drake fan....his music caters to women too much for me....but I'm not in denial that he pretty much almost always murders anybody who on the track with him....and anybody who been listening to rap for years can tell he actually sits back thinks about what he writes...unlike nikkas like Wayne

I can't really say that it was Drake, it was this whole new generation that Drake somewhat paved the way for.

In the 2004-08 days you had certain lyrical rappers of previous generations and the ones from that generation like Lloyd Banks & Lupe etc. But shyt was dwarfed by the amount of "non-lyrical" rap.

But in these "new school" days it's hard to become a relevant rapper (ie not a 1 hit wonder) if you lack lyrical skills.

:beli:

:mindblown:

And regarding Drake, how did he bring lyricism back? Who has entered the game since BIEH who is "lyrical"? Who stepped their shyt up cause of Drake?

I would say Drake has brought lyricism back to the mainstream front. His singles selection outside of his simp records have been pretty lyrical.
