hehehehehehehehehe
op right drake is bigger than jay-z in his prime
Drake sold 5 million records? Lmao
op right drake is bigger than jay-z in his prime
He's right. Think about how much competition Jay had in '96. He had damn near the entire roster of who we consider legends, in their prime, to content with.
Fred.
He puts other artists on
Exactly, and I was mainly just talking about the internet for this argument but you added another dimension....Because when you talk about popularity now,it seems like the only criteria is being known.....Well do young cats realize how easy it is to be KNOWN OF in todays era? You realize when Nas and Jay was battling, probaly the biggest battle in hiphop history,it was so many people/outsiders who had no idea that shyt was going on
...Fast forward and anybody whos on social media knows about a damn Meek and Drake beef because its the talk of the internet, fast forward to where dance moves can go "viral" and next thing you know Bobby Smurda is famous,Soulja Boy famous, the news is talking about Drake dancing in a hotline bling video
...You lil nikkas think the dougie got a chance to go "viral"
With Fred adding in a dimension,I don't think you can even say Drake was bigger than prime Jayz of the south,T.I.P....T.I definitely had greater competition....He arguably had as many females as apart of his fanbase, more classic albums than Drake,I'm going to guess more sales than Drake, huge hits in a more competitive period.
Matter of fact since yall wanna be disrespectable its time to stop being so humble, from now on we need to stop even acknowledging the Drakes,J Coles,Kendricks as anything more than the midcard nikkas that they are....No more of that superstar, elite,"on top of the game" talk,as if that means anything when we all know they are there by default
That's like if The Rock,The Undertaker,Stone Cold,Bret Hart,Hulk Hogan and all the other main event nikkas died in a tragic plane crash....Aint nobody tryna hear about the star power of the Brooklyn Brawler just because he in the main event now![]()
People thought Nelly and Ludacris were going to dominate forever.
When Drake gets 20 years under his belt we can re-visit this thread but I am thinking it should be locked just on principal.
What markets?Drake has penetrated markets that Jay never did, even in his prime.
Take care is a classic.
Anyone who disagrees is out of touch with this generation

What's crazy to me is people try to downplay the stars of 20 years ago because "everybody was selling" but don't ever take into account the internet and social media in modern times.
Back in the day literally the only way to become a rapper was sign to a major. Even if you were independent, your end game was aligning yourself with a major.
In 2016 you could create a dance in your backyard, film it in HD with your smart phone, upload it to Youtube, and get signed off that. The low as fukk entrance fee to the rap game in 2016 > people buying records 20 years ago, in terms of advantages.
Fred.
SP, Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek>>>>Any artist Drake put on
I'd rather listen to all those artists than Drake too
It's not a hip hop album..... by any means
Jay-Z is 20 years deep in this .......and could still draw a crowd
Waiting another 12 years then you can make this comparison
