Ironically, we prolly like the same shows and music. but you have such disdain for financials being even a criteria in determining greatness that I feel like it's clouding your judgement.

Again, NO ONE said, sales is the ONLY measure of success. BUT if you have a show that most would say has good content AND does big numbers, you wouldn't rank it higher than a show that had good content but did small numbers?

I'm gonna be honest.. When I'm watching a show or movie I've never once thought about how much the rest of the country loved it before making my final decision on its ranking of greatness..

This is my perspective....General speaking Americans are dumb... This is the country that makes Americas Got Talent the highest rated show and voted for George W. Bush twice..McDonalds is the highest grossing restaraunt..

So with that in mind, why would I ever use American popularity as a tie breaker? If anything it's usually a demerit... Especially when it comes to art...

Just my opinion..

i refuse to conform
I would be interested to see what other's opinions are on this...I'll start though and provide a more comprehensive answers.

1.) Lyrics - 40% (Content, Metaphors, Wordplay)
2.) Flow - 20% (Delivery, rhyme schemes, vocal inflection)
3.) Impact - 15% (Do people emulate that style, does mainstream media follow it more)
4.) Stage Show - 15% (so sad to see that this is becoming lost in the art of hip hop)
4.) Sales - 10% (this often leads to what radio plays, what major AND indie labels will sign because in the end, it's a business)

lol at flow having anything to do with rhyme schemes u a idiot and u going on my ignore list

Is he talking overall, or in lyrical skill.

Overall no question I agree.

Skill level is more debatable, but he is a very well balanced rapper skillswise despite his moist image.

Let's be honest, I personally would put dude in the top 5 in terms of current rappers.
