I remember Bar Exam being my absolute favorite tape of all time right next to Budden's MM2, then SFG and Warm Up drop in the span of weeks and quickly surpassed em on my list, 09 is a very underrated year in hop-hop.

he was talking top3 of this generation

he said last month that for him, the top 3 goes like this:

1) Kendrick Lamar
2) and 3) JCole - Drake

It was in XXL magazine

yeah I saw that interview and he is right, he didn't know if Cole or Drake was #2 but we all know that Drake is behind Cole

says the most underachieving rapper in the history of hip hop?

:childplease:

i think Drake is nice, being honest, but he's certainly not a beast, and nowhere near even the top 5 current mc's. royce just wants a feature, lol

Ironically, we prolly like the same shows and music. but you have such disdain for financials being even a criteria in determining greatness that I feel like it's clouding your judgement.

Again, NO ONE said, sales is the ONLY measure of success. BUT if you have a show that most would say has good content AND does big numbers, you wouldn't rank it higher than a show that had good content but did small numbers?

The wire was on the brink of being cancelled several times since it had low ratings, does that damage it's greatness? I think you are getting a little carried away by what financial success means. I think you are referring to popularity that displays the artists' talent. Not the material gain but more the ability to make music that is appreciated by a large demographic...right? STILL, that should be a minuscule part of what makes a great rapper.

10% of your greatness is determined by your ability to get rich? As a rapper? :usure:

Anybody regarding somebody calling Drake top 3 PRESENTLY as making a 'dumb ass statement', is wildly out of touch.

Financial success?

Why is hip hop the only part of arts and entertainment that uses this criteria..

So glad I don't have to go to other forums and see "The Godfather part 2 was okay, but it's box office ain't seeing Despicable Me 2's numbers"

or

"The Wire?!?! Wasn't nobody checkin for that sh1t... It wasn't fukkin with "How I Met Your Mother". Numbers don't lie.."
