I don't why we're picking on Jay. He doesn't resonate with the youth and women, like Pac, so he's not on here. Women still love Pac and the youth look up to him and wanna be like him. What other legacy rap acts are on this list? Eminem? Well that's an easy one lol

Summer Walker is definitely more Keyshia Cole than Ashanti who had major mainstream success, songs that could be played 10 years from now in all white establishments.

Summer is far more in the classic Rnb lane she’s got the women in the palm of her hands but she’s more in that Keyshia Cole lane the level just below true stardom that the likes of Ashanti Alicia Keys were achieving during the same time.

Summer came out 30 years ago would have been in that Mary J lane but she still needs era defining hits that the likes of Ella Mai and SZA have had in the last 5 years.

Gen Z/tik tok era loves Pac. I work with youth and he’s the only 90s rapper that they really fukk with. He’s had somewhat of a resurgence recently due to them. Also helps that his music aged well

It’s still surprising he’s not in the top 100. Because he does resonate to a generation of rap fans like no other

I don't think that millennials (Jay's era) and older are driving these numbers anymore though. It also has to do with branding, Pac has that raw appeal. Jay is more distant, less personality, more calculated etc. It doesn't connect on a personal level like Pac was able to. I also think Jay keeping his shyt off of Spotify, Apple and YouTube for as long as he did, also hurt his brand

And yet she's still being outstreamed by SZA AFTER breaking and setting streaming records less than a year ago. Make it make sense. You're telling me that Summer is the "it" girl of R&B, but the "it" girl is being outstreamed in 2022 by an artist who hasn't had a new album since 2017. A re-release with 5 new songs isn't anything compared to an artist that still has TWO albums on the charts. You are contradicting yourself. All of this is in relation to streaming. And we're not talking festivals. We're talking about what these artists streamed in 2022.

My comparison to Travis wasn't random. Travis is definitely closer to '02 Jay Z than Summer is to '02 Ashanti.

You would have to be big period to get on Coachella.
Bro, this whole time I said it’s her and SZA, there can be more than one it girl who hold things down. Brandy and Monica did, Mariah and Whitney did, Alicia and beyonce did.

There’s nothing contradictory about my posts, I said out the gate SZA is the biggest chick, but also had a 3-4 year head start and a cross over single.

That’s wild, didn’t her album win a Grammy a couple of years ago? People be acting like she the top female rapper out but it don’t seem like many people are actually listening to her music
Female rap is entirely of the moment outside of nicki who is from the last era of superstars (her, bey, Rihanna, drake, Gaga, Bieber, Chris, Justin, Taylor, Adele, Katy, etc are all on here). Cardi ain’t had an album since 2017

She hasn’t put out an album in 4 years. Her last few singles has been flopping.

Oh damn, it’s really been 5 years? Damn time is flying. I guess Hot shyt, WAP, UP we’re just loosies but it still pretty surprising with some of those other artists that are on there.
