I'll say this, the album is not good, but it's not as terrible as some people are making it seem either.

A part of it, is that he dropped the ball on a highly anticipated album that most people thought would be his best work.

The other side of it is that there has been a coalition of people who've never liked him and have been waiting for him to drop a verified dud.

And he finally did that, so now everyone is coming out of the woodworks to discredit the project.

All In All, the album is wack. That's undeniable. But not nearly as garbage as people are making it out to be.

Just a clear decline from his previous work.

I was on Apple music the other day and was listening to a playlist called, 'Nas concept tracks.' For the rest of my day songs like Rewind, Mastermind, I gave you power, 2nd childhood, daughters, fried chicken, where are they now, book of rhymes, fetus, destroy and rebuild - I could go on but you get the point played and EVERY song made me feel a certain way, EVERY song made me think and ponder. Just using Nas as an example, I fell in love with his music and his story because he CARED about the music he was writing about, he wrote music that entertained but also made me THINK - I know who he is as a human, I know his flaws and I know about the things he cares about but nonetheless the guy is an enigma and a personality who IS HIP HOP TO HIS CORE.

Many artists have this quality - early Jay, The Wu (every single core member), 'Pac, Biggie, Redman, Rass Kass, Q Tip, Scarface, Mos, Lauryn, Talib, Dilla, Cube, Warren G etc etc. (we know them). You know their pen game and you know that they sat and pondered about the things that they made. THERE WAS PASSION AND HEART IN THE MUSIC, a love for creating something that blew people away and differed from artist to artist. Some artists were for some, others didn't enjoy them but preferred someone else who wrote in a different style and said something speaking from a perspective that mattered to that person most. :banderas:

Either way we have become dummies for mediocrity. We eat up all this terrible music because there's so much of it. The internet has been amazing because it has given everyone a platform to create and show the world their music but it's ultimately paved the way for talentless BUMS who have no place making music - one hit wonders who continue to dilute the genre and destroy the minds of their listeners. Fast food Hip Hop, keeping you entertained for a few weeks but contributing to long-term destruction of your minds ability to THINK. :demonic:

For those of you who are enlightened (the #TPC brehs know), even some trolls on this board know we can splurge every now and then and eat that pizza, eat that nugget, burger w.e. (you're getting the metaphor probably) but when it comes down to it if you know you know and if you don't then continue to live your life and have fun - A WISE MAN ONCE SAID THAT IGNORANCE IS BLISS AND IT IS. :patrice::yeshrug:

If you take nothing away from this post then take away this - Empowerment and seeking the greatest for oneself comes from the interactions he chooses to have and the information an individual processes, this includes EVERYTHING from an individual in all facets of their life. Music is an art, an amazingly powerful tool that has inspired humans for centuries to make them laugh, to make them cry, to make that change. MJ used it to fight racism in the 70s and 80s and WON. So settle, enjoy mediocrity - there are BILLIONS doing the same as you.

Peace.

Keep the family close
U wit me
Controlla
Childsplay
Pop Style
Fire & Desire

undecided about: One Dance

U wit me, Controlla One Dance all are great songs imo.

It's amazing how everybody opinions differ on most of the songs. To me it seems like Drake is trying to appeal to so many audiences. I'm a "Stan" tho I am feeing most of the whole album. Songs I am definaty not feeling is Keep the Family close, Summers Over and Fire & Desire. Childs Play and Faithful are ok but I'll skip it most of the time.

Weird people have such differing opinions on this as I've seen posters in this thread list some of those as their favorites, only one I'd agree with on that list as being one of my least favorites is Pop Style, Childs Play is Top 3 for me personally but that's opinions for you.:manny:

Someone said earlier in this thread that this just proves Drake has been relying on the ghostwriters far more heavily than people wanted to believe, and I agree. After the whole mess with the ghostwriters, reference tracks, etc., I honestly think most of the album was scrapped (hence the name change) and this is the best he could come up with without his usual amounts of help. Also, the culture vulturing is out of control with this Jamaican shyt, and Jamaicans aren't having it:

Drake's VIEWS leaves Popcaan behind - Home - Jamaica Observer Mobile

Every review that I've read has been lackluster across the board... Says that Drake lacks focus and is not growing as artist... And he's being ripped to shreds on social media with gems like this:

The album is a dud, padded numbers (because he's Apple's golden goose) or no, and the public is beginning to turn on him.
