Lets go backwards

BP3... no
AG... debatable
KC... lol
TBA... no, but decent
BP2... no
BP1 :salute:
Dynasty... no, but decent
Vol 3... no
Vol 2 :salute
Vol 1 :salute
RD :blessed

4 out of 11... that dont seem like every other one to me :leon: And Vol 1 is even debatable.

Couple that with the fact that his last unarguable classic came out 12 years ago :scusthov: Thats like saying this year is gonna be the year :flabbynsick: gets the title back

Jay and that whiny ass voice over dubstep beats :russ: #yallnikkascrazy

RD-classic*
Vol1-great unfairly hated on
Vol2-near classic*
Vol 3-:manny:
Dynasty-great/arguable
BP-classic*
BP2-unfairly hated but popular opinion agrees with you and its a no.
TBA-classic*
KC:why:
AG-arguable classic*
BP3-not at all

Who's been more consitently consistent?since the 2000's the numbers don't lie...how can u sit here and say that since the year 2000 Jay has dropped one great album and that wuz right at the begging of the decade lol....coincidently right after he shytted on Nas he just couldn't do right by you:mjpls:?...TBA is a no?:childplease:

@StillNotSoft list is legit.
I have low expectations and think his next album will be weak though. However I'd love for Jay-Z to prove me wrong.

TBA is a good album. AG is a good album. Classic doe? :usure: U givin it stan points.

And Jay has been anything but consistent. KC was horrible. AG was good. Then BP3 was wack. Thats the opposite of consistent fam.

I aint even on that Jay/Nas stan wave. Nas has been even worse since Ether IMO.

She's even worse when she logs in here as Gravity.

maybe others can explain this to me, and help me out here. For a niqqa like Jay, whose paper is incredibly long, and is not in any shape or form dependent on this album financially, why does he continue to drop trend chasing bullshyt, rather than a focused, cohesive album that rewards longtime fans? Why do we continue to get by the numbers records that are indistinguishable from the other sht thats being put out, with flavors of the months packed on the album like sardines?

Why isnt a classic record the one and only goal for someone like Jay, rather than trying to appeal to heads who were like 2 years old when Dead Presidents dropped?

it's gonna be a revolutionary Hov album.

It's gonna be grown up and mature, where he talks about being married and being a father and the worries of karma catching up to him because he has a daughter.

You know. he's gonna make his own version of "Life is Good".

Doubt it, he already tried to be grown up and mature on Kingdom Come :russ:. and even if he does try it again, it'll be rhymes about his daughters pacifier costing more than your car

The-Dream said its a hard album, some street shyt, guru said its a concept album

Just the sound of his voice is a hit!
Ya'll nikkas got me really confused out there
I make "Big Pimpin" or "Give It 2 Me", one of those...
Ya'll hail me as the greatest writer of the 21st Century
I make some thought-provoking shyt
Ya'll question whether he falling off
I'ma really confuse ya'll on this one
Follow....

As much as I wanna hear a "real" "grown" album from Jay; ppl won't buy into it

And it ain't as simple as having a lot of money

Dude has a lot invested into his career (didn't he just re-up with Live Nation?), so he's not gonna drop a Black On Both Sides so it can brick and he can only tour on old music

I don't like it; but, it's the truth

That's the thing. Jay is such a commercial fame chasing ho, he could give us that real hip hop classic if he wanted to. "I sold 5 mil, I aint been rhyming like Common since." He's all about #1 records and Grammys, and he doesn't have to be. He's the only rapper in the game who could put out anything and it would sell. So look out for the Chief Keef and Future collabos. :merchant:

I've swore a blood oath to never listen to anything the media says about either Jay-Z or Kanye's music without hearing it first...the entirety of hip hop "journalism" for whatever reason have full on man-crushes for them...seriously when's the last time you've read or heard a blogger/journalist type not speak about anything either of them have done in non orgasmic or spiritually transcendent terms...I came away from reading about the WTT listening session thinking that the album was some kind of life altering religious experience

yeah man, i swear the way they was hyping WTT i thought it was gonna be something next level, like some really heavy shyt. talib kweli even gave it a "its some pr black shyt" comments, so i was really surprised when it turned out to be some flavor of the month euro-trash/hip-hop blended shyt.

Can't compare Jay's grown man shyt to Nas's grown man shyt.
Jays shyt is eating dinner with presidents, being on cover of Forbes instead of lineups, giving water to Africans instead of crack to his people, buying helicopters for his daughter, spending money on drapes and he's still trying to be drenched in a fountain of youth. Nas is reminiscing about cats he saw, having relationship troubles, daughter troubles, mortgages, irs and shyt people can relate to or shyt about other peoples lives. Jays shyt is like a movie in first person, Nas like a documentary.

I don't even know why people compare their styles, completely different. Dudes are trying to fit the equation fitting Nas's style to Jays style, it's not random that you get bad estimates for Jay style if we're keeping it scientific.

Probably because he can't do anything other than what he has been doing.

I don't even think he should be given the benefit of the doubt like :ld: "well, he probably could if he wanted to"....no. What have we seen out of his career that is any indication of that? He said he wanted to rhyme like Common Sense 10 years ago....what's stopping him at this point?
