@Nomadum, don't start a fight with @Napoleon, it's not necessary. I deleted some of both of your posts because it was not relevant to the topic.
You don't know what "relevant" means anymore, do you?

Once again, everything in this thread is on topic, contextual, and pertinent.

Apply the sliding scales to less prolific, more troll-worthy posters. I engage all content as I see fit and within the frames of the thread.

Do you realize I deleted the posts where Nomadum was going at you lol ? I also deleted two of your replies because otherwise it wouldn't have made sense (replying to a deleted post)... Smarten up Nap.

These "pilots" are living the most privileged lives of ANY soldiers in the history of war, wouldn't you say so?

Collateral sucks.

But this article does nothing to reign in its disdain for technology.

But why is technology the issue? isn't it the user who dictates rather a piece of technology is beneficial or detrimental?
example, a computer. a computer left alone and not being interacted with is just a piece of tech. no matter how high-tech or low-tech it is, it's still technology at the end of the day. until a user uses the tech does it become a tool of good or tool of bad.

A white-hat hacker who uses the computer to complete a pen-test to ensure a hospital's patient records are secure = the computer being used for good
A black-hat hacker who uses the computer to break into said hospital to steal patient records = the computer being used for bad

the common thread is 1. the tech and 2. (most importantly) the user's intention.
===

tech is not bad, it's what the individuals do with that tech that is of greater concern. :yeshrug:

This shyt has nothing to do with hating technology

It is addressing how technology doesn't assuage the guilt or aid in the issues stemming from warfare.

Like you asked, why aren't regular pilots quitting at these rates? With that question u proved warfare technology is not always better. What good are drone strikes if u cant get anyone to execute them?

Pretty soon, human's will only be used in minimum ways. with the current push of technology and especially A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) it's going to be very likely that in the near future, Attack Drones will be controlled by A.I. or advanced algorithms.

just for a basic 101, an algorithm is the steps a program must "step through" or accomplish 1 at a time to complete the program. so in the future a drone may be completely controlled by computer A.I. with a human acting only as the person who ensures the drone A.I. program is functioning correctly.

I dont think so bro, what would stop the drones from turning their guns on us if their algorithms determined us to be the problem?

No, the govt will always send the poor + disillusioned off as cannon fodder to compensate for their inadequate diplomacy skills.

Speaking of serving @Napoleon talks a big game about American pride and all that horseshyt..... wonder why he doesn't serve?

Yeah it does. Drone pilots will always essentially be removed from the face of combat. This is just a by-product of the benefit of not having to think about SERE school in the middle of missions :stopitslime:

Sounds like a pointless conversation.

The technology is better, but the emotional component is something pilots will have to develop coping mechanisms for.

Plus, before long, we won't need actual pilots. The pilots are really only there for high-order decision making.

Then you should be against next-generation fighter or stealth planes.

I don't understand this argument.

That isn't how an algorithm works, the programmer defines the limits of the algorithm. so in essence, to answer your question... a drone algorithm will not automatically target 'us'.

and to assume the government only sends the poor + disillusioned to war is the belief of uninformed individuals with bias against their government.

I am not against technology in the slightest sense. in fact, I more than welcome the advancements in technology. what I AM against is the use of technology to impose an iron rule or control. Napoleon, you do not understand my argument because it's clear me and you don't see things in the same manner. :yeshrug:

besides, I'm not trying to get banned by arguing with you pointlessly. :youngsabo:

So...what are you against? Hi-res cameras on drones that pilots have to view? :heh:

Only plus is it keeps the pilots physically safe, at the expense of their consciences and collective sanity. Seems like a wash to me and isn't demonizing technology at all. Technology has other uses besides killing people.

Sounds like a pointless conversation.
You deem anything that doesn't jive with your worldview as such.

Why should the pilots bear all the responsibility for their own mental health? :dahell: US govt is obligated to help them in that regard just like with PTSD and other war related emotional issues.
