I stay in a crossover. I won't drive anything that isn't that or a truck. I got in a head on collision last year where the other driver swerved in my lane because he was high. It totaled my vehicle. Not a scratch on me.

Cars are designed to be totaled in a wreck. The crumble zones absorb the energy of the collision so it does not get transferred to the driver.

What model was the car? and why did it disintegrate

Looked like a Honda... I'm not sure even a pick up truck could have fared any better based on the speed the Honda got rear ended with. What made it worse was that the truck the drunk driver was using basically ran over the Honda due to the impact. Wouldn't be shocked if the driver in the Honda was cut in half or folded in half.
