Why is it that drunk drivers more than often survive these crashes?

There the ones doing the hitting if your going at a high rate of speed and crash into someone it creates the bumper car affect sending the other vehicle flying while the initial impact just nudges the drunk drivers car into the median. There applying much more force thus there impact in return is far less, speed is the key in all this.

if you really think technology is going to solve all of societal "driving" ills, you need to reevaluate. Technology is evolving but it will never be a 100% success rate - that's fantasy thinking. I mean look at social media - the avg person is not doing such a bang up job with that. (pun unintended). There is no such thing as a 100% fail safe. For every positive there's a negative, for every action there is an equal but opposite reaction (Newtons Law) - they taught us that in high school physics.

I go to a bar sometimes, and for this reason only, I make sure I only have $20 cash on me. It's a hole in the wall joint, so they don't do the debit card shyt. A drink will cost me $6.50. I give them the 20 and tell them just give me 10 back.

This way, I'm not drinking more that 2 drinks and I get ice in my drink with a water on the side.

I can't imagine taking someone else's life because I was drunk.
