Age has nothing to do with being old and FLABBY..it means your out of touch and still stuck in the year 1996 so you can’t even critique the music you are hating on

This like the guy in the barbershop who will chime in when nikkas are talking about lil baby new album …with some off the wall shyt about how rakim used to grab the mic from the performer and shut down the clubs in 1988

Man get this juelz shyt outta here. :mjlol:

Nobody is talking about Lil Baby or any new rappers. Cats talking about 40+ rappers (Wayne, Jay, Nas, or Pac who died 25+ years ago) and throwing around words like "flabby" when every rapper in the topic is old as fukk.

It's goofy and a lot of you cats don't seem comfortable with aging.

LOL @ all the Wayne stans in here catching feelings.

Wayne was at best a good rapper who made terrible cringey ass music in arguably the worse era of hip-hop (including today's era).

Calling Wayne the "best rapper" or the GOAT is like calling Oliver Mccall the greatest boxer of all time cuz he held a title when Tyson was locked up. :mjlol:

This all day.

It will always amaze how cats who are years, if not decades removed from high school just love to run online and clown "old heads" and dismiss such and such as being "flabby".

N*ggas really think they're the only thing in existence that somehow magically doesn't age like everything else in the universe.

Keep using the internet to lie to yourselves and pretend you're one of the cool kids grampa.

From what I can gather over the years it’s 2 things

1.
“dropping jewels/gems” basic confirmation bias that people think is deep

This is what @re'up is giving props to Nas and Jay z for

Stuff like “invest your money don’t blow it on jewelry”

“Live life free and make every meaningful”

2. It’s any rap that isn’t the typical street and balling raps

So if you’re talking about going through something or the ills of society
Jay is one of the most versatile rappers ever which is why I can’t just dismiss him as not having substantive material. It just shows people haven’t really listened to his albums. Jay has some deep tracks like This Can’t Be Life, Where Have You Been, Lucky Me, and D’Evils. He got more and more the away from that the older he got which is why 4:44 comes off as pretentious but I feel like he’s had way more substance than Wayne whose spent most of his career being a punchline rapper

Don’t get me wrong tho. Wayne is one of the goats and deserves his flowers. Substance doesn’t necessarily make you a great rapper. He found his lane and stuck with it and put out a lot of dope music. I love Redman but I’d be lying if I said his music had a lot of substance

The video posted…whoever the guy is..starts his video by saying something to the effect of “ I listen to Tupac, jay z and Nas”

And my point is…that’s always the take..people resorting to artists from 25 -30 years ago

That guy probably doesn’t listen to any current albums/artists…but he’s also probably been saying kings disease is the best rap album every year for the past 3-4 years…because it’s one of only like 6 albums he actually listened to

These people don’t want to listen to new music..they want new listeners to go back and listen to their favorites from when they grew up

It’s a FLABBY mindset stuck in your memories

Lil Wayne dumbed down his lyrics to double his dollars just like his favorite rapper, Jay-Z...

I dont even think Wayne himself remembers his own lyrics tbh

If u want introspective lyrics, listen to Nas and Scarface.

Like Melle Mell once said “rap ain’t nothing but a bunch of nikkaz talking shyt” lol and that’s the truth.

it’s cool to have insightful and conscience tracks as a rapper, but overall that’s not what it’s mainly about.

That was Wayne...

If u didnt hear a bar of him talking about him eat puss or him using some random literary device..expect to hear to some gun bars.

This dude somehow invalidated his own viewpoint in less than 30 seconds by claiming Jay Z's music is filled with substance. :russ:

There's no greater display of how ridiculous that notion is than this track.

Y’all hate Jay so much y’all hear his name even when it’s not said

Dude did not mention jay Z lol

And that verse u posted is full of substance

It was obvious back then. Drake, his under study, has made more substantive music. Furthermore, guys like J. Cole and Kendrick, who are younger/came after him, have made much more substantive music.

:manny: I sort of feel him on that, it’s a main reason I will NEVER put him above the Chuck D’s, KRS’s, and Ice Cubes of the world, c00ns don’t get elevated that high for me. If he just kept it to bullshyt, I could kinda excuse it, but Wayne has made it his business to be a c00n waaaay too often in his career, and I can’t ignore that. That’s some shyt I just can’t excuse as a black man; hard to even enjoy the music atp. Probably a reason why I never got into TPAB, like I literally just heard you (Kendrick) shyt on Mike Brown some months prior to that so I don’t believe you. But he (Wayne) does have SOME substance, though few and far between.

:mjlol: Also if Cole is considered “conscious” that’s fukking sad. What Cole song sounds like this:

Or this:

Or hell, even this:

:stopitslime:Go ahead, I’ll wait. Lyrical doesn’t equal consciousness.
