It’s actually not. Not in the literal sense. They have teams of people getting paid millions to tap into the human brain and what your stimulae are…and we have other things to do so we don’t have the time to actively combat all these things.

Also they have the biggest advantage ever, especially for gen z and younger, bc that age group has never NOT lived on their phone. So they can access you directly. In your home.

Anyway…yea, it’s a little more complicated than ‘it’s just self control’

This. One of the greatest tricks is convincing people that they’re smart or strong enough to evade attacks they can’t even see.

But yeah I just copped my Nokia 6300. Tired of having second hand anxiety of copping all of these smart phones with overkill specs that you can just use a laptop for.

i like smart phones still.
I started discovering that you can use an old phone as basically a rasberry pi for little custom projects.
Instead of tossing the iphone 8 in the trash or trading it in for pennies, connect it to a monitor download some classic games on it, add a bluetooth controller. now you have a retro gaming system for sega games. I heard someone even used their old smart phones as security cameras.

Some phones actually have GPS. Like the one I copped. Its not revolutionary but it helps get you from point A to point B.

Thought about getting a flip...but the amount of productivity wasted by a smartphone is offset by the producing gains i get from a smartphone. I just need to build self control.

Phones like this are straight up milking the "minimalistic" approach. While it is good for what it is and have the features you need, that price is ridiculous. Might as well get a Linux phone and just strip it down to the white meat.
