During the 90's did the South have more lyrical/content driven HIT SINGLES than any other region?

The rappers in the 1st line made socially concious & lyrically poingnant rap songs as their LEAD SINGLES

And did so consistently...

Huge difference compared to the rappers in the 2nd line.

So you're saying NY had a signifancantly larger depth of socially concious, lyrically poignant HIT SONGS (<<< Key phrase here) comparable to the tracks in the OP?:jbhmm:

Yet we're like 30+ posts now in this thread and i've only seen two songs posted that POTENTIALLY & MAYBE fit the qualifications and can be compared to some of the bottom tier songs in the OP? Interesting.:jbhmm:
All of the songs I posted were hits :comeon:

The World is Yours = No Lyrical depth - Aint sayin shyt in the song...just putting random words together

Juicy = I was poor now i'm rich and living good - this is a socially concience rap song to you? :dahell:

Dead Presidents = A song about chasing dollars - Social conciousness & lyrical depth...where????

This whole thread is false. During the 90s the South had the LEAST amount of lyrical/content driven hit singles and its not even close. Breh couldn't even come up with more examples. Kast and Goodie Mob were affiliated so of course their messages would be similar. Scarface WAS the Geto Boys for all intents and purposes. 8ball & MJG didn't have a national hit single till they got on Bad Boy

Lost Boyz- Renee

Black Star- Respiration/Definition

Pete Rock And CL Smooth- T.R.O.Y

Iron chin is an east coast brother that dikkrode the south as a youth. He should know better after being raised on teen summit but I'll let him cook

:sas2:

He's a funny dude at times so I'll give him that.

He's definitely lunching if he's just gonna pretend like the roots, blackstar, and de la soul weren't active during this period

Those songs weren't hits? :usure:

And if you don't think so your showing your youth

And I notice how you didn't even address my mid 90s examples. I don't see how the South had more lyrical/content driven hits when you basically gave a bunch of examples from the same artists. I gave you 8 examples from 8 different acts none of whom were affiliated.

I haven't even gotten to my West coast examples yet :pachaha:

Stop it

Trying to pass shyt like this off as a lyrical or socially concious on par with the tracks in the OP :martin:

You just in here posting random shyt that's not even related to the theme of the thread

And Cream is another track about chasing dollars and it ain't all that lyrical...if tracks like that are "socially concious"...you must think Migos & Future got mixtapes filled to the brim with socially concious material. :martin:

These aren't tracks analyzing or speaking on the human condition or tracks expressing any socio-political awareness like the tracks in the OP.

One Love would fit the theme of the thread if it was a hit...but it wasn't...it's a cult/regional classic. Wasn't a commercial hit in the 90's.

Breh obviously you weren't listening to the lyrics of Poor Righteous Teachers :dwillhuh:

And Cream isn't only about chasing dollars so I don't see how it wasn't lyrical cuz that fact went right over your head
:heh:

One Love was only a regional hit even tho it was a single off an album widely considered the GOAT?:usure:

Yet you post an example from 8ball&MJG who were about as regional an act as you can get:russ:

I wanna see more examples from you that support your theory:francis:
