During the 90's did the South have more lyrical/content driven HIT SINGLES than any other region?

Ain't nothing in this thread touching Cell Therapy lyrically. :coffee:

Or as well written and powerful as Seen a man Die, Mind Payin Tricks On Me & 6 Feet Deep :coffee:

Or have the combination of commercial success & Lyrical/Musical quality of just about any of the other tracks.:coffee:
the thread title clearly states that the SOUTH had MORE hit singles and you've already been proven wrong. Even if Cell Therapy is the most lyrical (which it isn't) there were still more examples of hit singles posted from the East which proves your theory wrong.

As far as the bolded goes you have a point but it was all songs written by Face whose one of the GOAT period. I don't see how that reflects the whole region tho

Didn't i say it was a cult classic? Thanks to media/industry gassing.

Couldn't compete with Ball&G in their own era though :coffee:

Got that hipster cac stimulus package in the 2000's...and i'm supposed to be impressed?
You keep moving the goal posts. We're talking hit singles and now you wanna bring up album sales at your convenience

that what im saying -your moving the goal post after every reply
u cant post cutz from face, geto boyz, 8ball & grant them as social conscience with joints like mind playing tricks/ never seen a man cry ....
then disallow my 3 joints

Face & GB tracks are the very definition of "socially concious" fuk u mean? :dahell:

Poignant and powerful social commentary.

Ain't no ME ME ME ME shyt like the tracks you posted.

lyrical/content driven HIT SINGLES

Not one or the other....ALL OF THE ABOVE.

Yall are either posting hits...that aren't all that lyrical or have any sort of meaningful content.

Or songs where the content fits the criteria...but the songs are not hits on par with MOST of what's posted in the OP.

There are almost no "all of the aboves" posted in here. :heh:

Slippin is a good one though. :ehh:

Is that all yall have?

Breh if the South had so many of these types of hits why do you keep talking about the same songs?:sas1:

You almost posted no songs in this thread that matches the full criteria of what's posted in the OP. :dahell:

That was in response to Ball&G being "regional" compared to this supposedlly larger than life illlmatic era nas...despite the fact that they were easily outselling nas in that same era. :mjlol:

All the songs I posted fit exactly what the criteria is. All were lyrical and all had meaningful content and all were hits. You asked nikkas if they agreed or disagreed. I disagreed and posted a ton of examples to prove you wrong.

them nikkas didn't get played on the radio here and I doubt they were played on the radio anywhere outside the deep south. Hence the word regional. All album sales prove is that the region supported them more. But the premise of the thread is hit singles not album sales so Im not sure how that's relevant

Jigga with the Roley and the Vest
I fukk wit all 3 of these tracks...

But socially concious & lyrically poignant? :usure:

The World is Yours = No Lyrical depth - Aint sayin shyt in the song...just putting random words together

Juicy = I was poor now i'm rich and living good - this is a socially concience rap song to you? :dahell:

Dead Presidents = A song about chasing dollars - Social conciousness & lyrical depth...where????

Nas wasn't saying shyt in the world is yours? Just putting words together? :dahell:

Neg worthy

What do you think happens if we put MOST of those tracks you posted that actually fit the content + hit criteria in a poll against Mind Playin Tricks On Me, Seen A Man Die, Cell Therapy, Elevators & Git Up Git Out? :stopitslime:

They'd get fukkin washed...and this is a board that leans towards boom-bap type shyt. No way are those tracks you posted on par with most of the tracks in OP...nor do they qualify as "hits" are highly lyrical.

Neither did pre-Lauryn Hill stimulus package nas :coffee:

He ain't saying shyt in that track period...no linearity, coherence or any sort of message in that track whatsoever...just rhyming words....that's not lyricism.

The thread title states that the South had more hits not bigger. None of what you posted was bigger than Ready Or Not, Dear Mama, Gangster's Paradise, or Pray
