Shaq was always injury prone and missing huge chunks of games, that wasn't a new development. Kobe's coming off a torn Achilles, that's not necessarily healthy or speeding up. :heh: Kobe is pretty comparable to Shaq before he was traded. Howard isn't comparable to young Kobe though and that's the issue.

Yeah you got a point but I still think Kobe will come back playing at a high level and if that's the case then I don't blame him for not wanting to concede big dog status to Dwight who is not mentally ready for that kind of role.

It was not as bad as Dwight's rep has become the last two years. His first year without Shaq they missed the playoffs and the league stopped mentioning him like they did Bron and Wade and Melo. But in 06 and 07 it was all about Kobe and how he didn't have any help. Never do I remember him not being considered a franchise player and one who could be the best player on a title team.

Kobes reputation took a hit was my point . So it's unfair to say Dwight isn't a franchise player when he was the man on a magic team full of role players that almost beat Kobe if not for a Nelson insertion. If Dwight recovers to anything like his prime Kobe looks like a fool

:dwillhuh: Kobe's old its very unlikely he plays 4 more high level years and even if he does hes not winning titles by himself . If he was really about winning and was realistic with himself he'd have embraced Dwight and try to mentor him for the future and Even maybe win a ring or 2 before he goes . Unless they pull off some kind of miracle next summer he's going to be wasting his last few years trying to be a alpha dog ..would bron and melo take backseats to Kobe? To help get him more rings :heh:

He's a franchise player talent wise but his best moment in the playoffs was dominating Cleveland in that close out game in 2009. But he has never reached that level since then so I don't see how a team can still think he is a player capable of being the best on a title winning team. If he would have kept that level of play up and improved and stayed focused then no doubt he is worthy of building a team around.

Kobe could have came at Dwight better but at the same time he shouldn't have to kiss his ass and beg him to come back. And until the Achilles injury I had no doubt that Kobe would play at a high level at least for the next 3 years after this. He has shown very little signs of slippage minus his athleticism.

What man? The man of what? This nikka has no go to move. He is a turnover machine. It was really painful watching Dwight operating in the post last season.

Bynum>Howard
