Dylan Ratigan has arguably lived of the most privileged existences in the history of the world (Major Network News Anchor). Yet we are supposed to shed tears because he as to spend $5160 dollars more for health insurance? If that was enough to break him then how did he even get close to the set on CNBC?

People who don't value money usually waste it and remain broke.

What's your point? If I rob a millionaire at gunpoint for $500 does it make it right just because he "can afford to take the loss?"

Not all, but most millionaires/billionaires know the value of a dollar, that's how they are able to maintain their wealth. Once their wealth reaches a certain level that's when they start to live extravagant. Poor people get a little extra bread and they wont even hesitate to run out and buy some stupid shyt....that single mother who got shaken down by the cops after buying a fukking $2000 handbag from Barney's with her tax return is a perfect example.

Sure guy. The wealthy have some arbitrary money threshold that they must cross before they ball out:stopitslime: The wealthy maintain their wealth because they own the means of production. The rich do the same b.s. that everybody else does :yeshrug: It just on a different level.

Missing the UP: Map on White House website does not include part of Michigan (updated)

13736023-mmmain.jpg

UPDATE 5:54 p.m. -- The map has been updated on the White House website.

A map of the U.S. on the White House's website has something missing: Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

It looks a little bare, doesn't it?

The map depicts states based on their Medicaid expansion status.

U.S. Rep. Dan Benishek, R-Iron County, posted the photo on his Facebook page.

"Considering President Obama visited the U.P. only a few years ago, you would think he would remember to include it in the maps on his website," wrote Benishek, who represents northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. "It makes you wonder if the president’s omission of the entire U.P. from his maps is reflective of his views of us Yoopers?"

The criticism isn't anything new: Benishek has been opposed to the president's Affordable Care Act, which the graph mentions.

You'll likely never see this happen in a state of Michigan publication, however: in 2009, a law was passed to require both peninsulas to be depicted by state agency publications.

Here's the law:
Any illustration, image, or depiction of the state of Michigan on a publication or item produced by a department or agency of this state shall include both the Upper Peninsula and the Lower Peninsula of this state.

The White House has been contacted for comment on the map.

Update: The White House has added Michigan's Upper Peninsula to it's Medicaid map. “We’re encouraged that Congressman Benishek is reading up on the thousands of people all across Michigan who will have better access and options for health insurance thanks to the Affordable Care Act, and we hope that he stands ready to help any constituent in the U.P. who is seeking assistance in signing up and increasing the ranks of Michigan's insured," said Regional Communications Director Keith Maley.

Totally agree...But corrected for emphasis......

I'm sure if minorities were less than 5% of the population, Merrica would have had universal healthcare several decades ago

Absolutely. No question about it.

I really sympathize with a guy like Ratigan on the other hand though. You're a poor farmer working the land with your hands... you've got a small tract of land in San Diego or San Jose the governments got one hand down your throat and one hand in your pocket(no homo).
