Nah, Lurie was willing to move forward with his Super Bowl winning coach even if it meant eating a loss on Wentz.

The issue is Doug's plan to fix things consisted of in-house promotions that would continue to place coaches above their competency level. He placed loyalty above results and they couldn't agree to move forward like that.

I think if something happens that doesn't make sense in any aspect in life - the root answer is almost always money. Asking an owner to eat $66 million is a big ask.
