The 22-12 Philadelphia 76ers head to the TD Garden to face the 19-13 Boston Celtics on this 2018 Christmas Day matchup.

The Celtics opened the season with a 105-87 victory over the Sixers in Boston. But that was well before Philly made a blockbuster deal for Jimmy Butler, allowing the Sixers to add Butler to Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons as a new big 3.

Both teams are expected to be true Eastern Conference contenders but the Celtics have been underwhelming thus far this season. Before the season started, the Cs were expected to be the top seed in the East and clear-cut favorites to reach the Finals. Although we're only 2 months into the season, serious questions have been raised about the Cs' prospect of representing the East in the finals. Aside from various injuries, Brad Stevens has had a difficult time defining roles (and minutes) for the Celtics' players.

This Christmas Day matchup will be a pivotal matchup between 2 teams poised to contend for domination of the East.

Game starts at 5:30pm.
