dude spitting the truth

"you play this song in the club for 90 seconds ....... but u expect me to play it 4 mins on the box??"

"no body wanna get off work hearing some dude that's 5'2'' talking bout he bout to knock someone out .. they dont believe u"

sounds like a cop out to me

that second quote speaks to the true NY....the ones still about that grimey NY sound, the ones uptown that spit knowledge on the corners etc etc etc

the first quote speaks to who hot 97 really targets, the regular listener in the malls and stores during the day, the ppl who may tune in from different cities....why can't dude just be real and say that hot 97 is not a ny radio station, its the worlds station

so pretty much what happened with the radio is what happened with every other business.

everyone got so concerned with profit margins that nobody can play anything good without worrying they will lose their job.

basically capitalism killed the radio.

the sad part about this is how much ebro actually knows about hip hop, all these radio guys know how much they are polluting the airwaves with bs.

when he is talking about call-outs and using a third party to "collect" data as to what songs are popular when deciding what to play on hot97 he is referring to payola by another name. These middle men ( "research companies") are the ones the labels pay to tell the stations their songs are hot since they cant pay the radio directly.

The cream rise to the top, radio full of a bunch of one hit wonder no career having nikkas throughout the day.....that shyt is basically ring tone advertisment:laff:....nobodys buyin a damn Sean P ringtone.....and nobodys buying the albums of a lot of these nikkas that u hear on the radio,a lot of nikkas ain't gon be goin to see those nikkas that did Stanky Leg or Party Like a rock star years down the line....if ya favorite rapper wuz that hot locally chances are his local station gon play em,hard to imagine that's not the case.....now if u want every station in America to play Sean P or whoever cuz u believe they are real hiphop:childplease:.....tryna force a artist like that on the world is more pointless than them forcing the next catchy song with the next catchy hook on us....at least with that sum ring tones might get bought...play Sean Price 30 times a day in every city in amercia and its a good chance radios gettin turned off or u gon have alotta people with the:wtb:...I don't know if people are the sheep sum of y'all think they are

I'll be honest though...I dont anyone who ever got a "call out" :mjpls:

At the end of the day NY Radio ain't breaking local acts though and they know it.

Southern radio does WAY more to promote music from local artists than NY does.

Why has this guy been on a promotional tour, doing more interviews than artists do when they've got an album coming out. Why do you guys keep posting him

Ebro more relevant than Paull Wall right now and Paull Wall just dropped an album :ehh::salute: Court Attention at all costs ... Isn't it funny that this debate is started on the "morning" show for hot 97 .. however .. their morning show is losing in ratings in breakfast club .. Good way to get some added listenership for a bit :mjpls:

Quiet as kept, recently they were beating the breakfast club in the morning. It was in the daily news if I'm not mistaken. But they rarely brag about it.

Why can't he just be honest and say that his job description is to stick to the radio establishment's method of picking music?

instead he's trying to justify what he does as the right thing to do for hip-hop culture and talking shyt about indie artists who are all more relevant to the culture than he'll ever be as a radio director :pachaha:

I didn't listen to this new interview (he's probably copping pleas in it), I'm just responding to his last statement

I wasnt aware of this ebro character until thar nicki minaj thing. He seems like a radio personality...very well spoken. Why is he behind the cams so much?

He used to be on the radio out here in Portland (back when it was Jammin 95.5), but that was years ago. He was apart of The Playhouse morning show (Oh how I miss the Playhouse :to:).
