Both of them have been my congressmen, I know them well

I don't see Edwards as rising in the party. She likes to piss off establishment and machine figures. It's part of her appeal

She could snatch that back in one term if she wanted

I like Raskin, but brown is a step down from Edwards imo
Then again, I don't know your politics :manny:

Emotionally I'm with Edwards. Progressive black woman representing PG County? The day that doesn't strike a chord with me, I'm dead

Politically I like them both and appreciate them for their differences. Van Hollen is a legislator and Edwards is an idealist. It's probably the hardest choice I've made as a voter in my life

I wanna vote for Edwards but van hollen is a serious presidential contender in 8 years

I don't wanna derail that :yeshrug: Edwards might be better in congress anyway, tho I'd support her if Cardin retired
Maybe 4 years if Hillary blows this.

The Edwards-CBC tension goes back years, to a House Ethics Committee dispute that involved Edwards and fellow CBC member Maxine Waters. The panel was probing the California Democrat for conflicts of interest in coordinating Treasury Department meetings with executives from a bank where her husband owned stock. When her grandson-turned-chief of staff Mikael Moore became the focus of the investigation, Edwards grilled him publicly for not seeing ethical red flags sooner.

That’s when the bad blood started, and Waters and other members of the CBC never forgot it, with many interpreting Edwards’ moves as an act of disloyalty.
smh. So maybe, if she didn't portray a stern and firm stance against possible corruption, then they would've been supporting her? Or is it based on her not socializing, only until she wants something?

Has there be examples of CBC taking similar stance against white colleagues, especially towards the Clintons? That shuck and jive more by Elija Cummings against Bernie Sanders, may be enough to answer my question

Earlier this year, the CBC’s political action committee passed on endorsing Edwards in an embarrassing public snub. POLITICO reported that Wynn, the former representative whom Edwards unseated in 2008 and who sits on the PAC board — had made the argument that black officials in the state were not backing her and they should stay out of the race as well.

Edwards is the more progressive of the two and could be a presidential ticket years down the line. She's almost a shoe-in for Vice President.

Playing identity politics already?

“You know, Mr. Van Hollen likes to trade on those endorsements, and the fact of the matter is we’d have a Democrat in Annapolis right now, if endorsements mattered,” Edwards said in a reference to former Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown, a Democrat who was widely supported by Maryland officials but lost the 2014 election to Republican Larry Hogan in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans 2-1.

“What matters is the endorsement of people, people that I have worked for and have served both inside and outside of the House of Representatives and on the leadership team in the House of Representatives as well,” Edwards said.

i'm trying to avoid exactly that

ultimately it's a great place to be to have too many good options for local representation, though :ehh:
I guess that depends on your politics. Maryland is on the upswing though.
