Kobe is a relatively efficient scorer given his volume and type.
It's just he's being compared to Bron, Jordan, and other hyper efficient players who score at a similar volume.
But Kobe is still pretty damn efficient.
Actually Kobe is more efficient than LeBron given the shots he takes. He just takes shots that are on average a much higher degree of difficulty. Now this hurts Kobe in the eyes of the analytics crowd. But when it comes to winning championships this style of play is actually more beneficial than LeBron's ultra conservative style.
In the NBA finals you're typically playing another elite defensive team. The games slow down they become half court and isolation in nature. "Bad shots" become typically the only shots that are available. Especially in crunch time. That is why a bad shot maker like Kobe Bryant or Kyrie Irving becomes so valuable. If you remember it was Kyrie that hit the game winning shot in game 7 not LeBron.
Its not hard to tell that the guy who takes and makes the difficult shots all season is the guy who will make them in the finals. The difference in finals record between Kobe and LeBron is a loud testament to that.
Also Kobe has more versatility with who he can play with because he was a significantly better shooter than LeBron. While LeBron needed shooters to space the floor for his drives, Kobe was able to play with dominant low post players like Shaq and Gasol that congested the lane and didn't spread the floor. This hurt Kobe's " efficiency" but it ultimately helped him win more titles since having a low post big is better for winning championships than not have them. LeBron doesn't have this versatility hence the reason he converted Chris Bosh from a post player to a 3-point shooter. Pair LeBron with a dominant post player and watch his "efficiency" drop like a rock.

when he shoots, but more often than not the result is usually
when the ball goes in.
