I think OP might be trying to say something like this:

When you talk to a chick and get her number. She’s seen your looks and personality and has a certain level of interest.

It’s difficult to move this level of interest. If her interest is at a 3, you probably not beating no matter what you say. If it’s a 8 - you can only really talk yourself out the running and that will take some screwing up too.

This is partly why I’ve always followed a volume game. If i can get 10 chicks numbers, 2 will be easy finishes, another 2 will depend on how things go and realistically the other 6 aren’t interested - full blown conversations will be rare. So just drop them.
