My friend is an electrician. I've seen a lot of his work, and it looks great (to my novice eyes). He did all the work in his home.

However, he says the money isn't as great as people think, at least not for him. He lives in Orlando and he said there's a lot of undercutting on prices, so it's hard to get the money he really wants to get. He's a homeowner, takes trips regularly, so I'm assuming he does okay, but he's says the field is crowded where he lives.

BFB Da Packman was a mail carrier while he was doing shows, I think he left now but he spoke about rappers not having a pension, health insurance, and how he had 401k contributions, it was like a double hustle, using the day job money to make more money while you go on tour.

My dude really lived up to his name

:wow:

I know a breh in HVAC he works for a company and then in his spare time he will do his own thing through Facebook marketplace, TaskRabbit and make bank.

I found a dude on Thumbtack that did that with welding. He worked for a company but would do side jobs for extra cash out of his garage. I paid him like $100 to fix a transmission pan and I know that shyt probably took him 10 minutes max, he probably cleaning up.:mjlol:

Trades are a lane young Black people can take control of. These white dudes are retiring and dying en masse. Let's see what happens.
Trade school as an entry point is so wide open for actual HUNGRY dudes its not even funny.

Let's see how hungry we really are because I have a cousin who is an electrician (a woman at that) and she lives and TN has to turn away business because her office is booked out for the rest of the summer.

I went to school for HVAC and got a job doing residential but wasn’t making big bank like that. Sucks during the slow season too. I’d need to brush up on my skills if I went that route again :patrice:

My cousin out west tells me there’s big money if I did decide to do it. Wouldn’t mind having my own business.

For all the guys asking if it’s too late…do it!

When I went to trade school we had older brehs in it. When I was in the fire academy we had dudes 40+ make it through.

Never too late
