I know a breh in HVAC he works for a company and then in his spare time he will do his own thing through Facebook marketplace, TaskRabbit and make bank.

Breh, all the skilled trades are open. My uncle owns a electrical business and dude easily has the cushiest life outa everyone. Grown kids, big ass house, 6-7 employees. Dude is easily worth a mil or two and only goes in to check on shyt and pay people. When he was doing electrical for apartment buildings, he'd have like a two month rush of working 5 days a week and 7 ish hours. After that, he was taking private repair work charging out the ass (still cheaper than most) and was clearing 6 figures when my pops was still struggling at entry level shyt.
The skilled trades are fukking OPEN for the young bulls. You can go full union and make a good living or turn that into your own biz and just supervise shyt. shyt, I might just get a HVAC cert just to fukking have it.

Is it realistic to be an Electrician and only work 40 hour week? I mean obviously if you have your own business but what about if you working for a company?

Def starting out. But once you get enough experience, start your own joint and do the same shyt for a fraction of the cost of the bigger companies. Service smaller mom and pop joints or get on with a builder, etc.
Trades never going away. Plus it keeps you active.
Even getting licensed and doing it as a side hustle can be lucrative.
But so many concerned with the image or clout of having certain jobs.
