krs is the most overrated lyricist from the '80s hands-down. i dont think i ever heard a verse from him that blew me away lyrically.

flow & delivery was hit-or-miss imo.

I never considered KRS One a super lyricist, he's a good solid lyricist, same ranking I put LL in. Difference is, KRS has really high peaks of lyricism that LL doesn't have (CIA verse, Brainstorm, Stop the Breaks, etc). I think he was actually way better lyrically later in his career, but he did have some real stand out verses in his prime as well. LL was a good standard lyricist. He never Wowed ever. KRS has at times. But I agree, compared to the Rakims, Kanes, G Raps neither are elite lyricist.

I love KRS flow and delivery because they're so versatile. Pretty much LL rapped the same style every song and every verse. I get it, if it ain't broke...but still.

Production was dope(Marley/K Def, Bobcat, QD III) and some dope songs but LL was ehhhh lyrically. He was dabbling in Hollyweird and his pen game was noticeably affected. ie "Bang Pow Batman":scust::camby:

I didn't care for the production from that album either really. I thought it was some of their weaker works. I might need to revisit it again

KRS best flow (imo) was that reggae flow he used, whenever he rapped outside of that flow those always seemed not to really click with me. Definitely agree with the hit or miss point.

He the most overrated lyrically from the Mt Rushmore of EMCEEs of his era. His different flows can be annoying at times because some of them he didn't master. But like you said earlier...dude just knew how to put it all together and make classic Hip Hop music.

nah man. gotta remember, even tho LL is probably younger than them, hes really not from their era.

radio was like '85 illmatic.

and even during the era of those other guys, LL destroyed plenty of tracks lyrically in a manner that i couldnt fathom KRS doing.
