The Most Influential Hip-Hop Message Boards Right Now

8. The Coli

Location: http://www.thecoli.com/forums/the-booth.3/
Size: 36,421 threads; 980,323 posts
Registered members: 11,808
Notable thread: "Come In And Remix The Drake DaDa Picture"

This relatively new board is quickly becoming one of the better spaces for hip-hop fans to interact. Much like the now-defunct SOHH, The Coli is a general board devoted to the discussion of rap, sports, and general culture from a hip-hop perspective. The discussion here tends to focus more on the heavyweight rappers of the day than the underground/upcoming MCs—the top five threads with the most replies on The Booth (the rap board) are about Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, and Lil Wayne—but generally everything is up for discussion (and clowning). The Coli has been credited with starting the infamous Drake "DaDa" meme, and posts generally have a playful, humorous tone.

The Most Influential Hip-Hop Message Boards Right Now

4. The Coli

Lastly, The Coli is an online forum that's widely respected as one of the first forums to successfully intertwine the worlds of hip-hop, sports, and everything in between. While The Coli has an affinity for East Coast/New York-style hip-hop, the breadth of topics discussed on the message board has grown more diverse over the years.

The amount of interaction with the work of indie artists is a bit more erratic compared to the previously mentioned forums, but The Coli is still solidified as a place where you should be posting your music, especially if you're a progressive boom-bap type of artist. Be sure to provide some background information for people to read, because you'll be treated as spam if you merely just post a SoundCloud link.

As a general rule of thumb, always remember to respond to any positive feedback you receive, and understand that these aren't your friends, but potential fans who won't hesitate to say how they really feel about your work.

Top 10 Hip Hop Forums, Discussions and Message Boards in 2023

:mjlol: at this goofy motherfukker talking about cac mods while linking a Complex article.

fukk Complex. Here's Brook, the owner of the site saying The Coli was named after The Coliseum, the sports section of SOHH:

This site was started because SOHH crashed during All Star Weekend.

The Coliseum is a sports reference.

The Locker Room is a sports reference.

The Rafters is a sports reference.

The Sky Box is a sports reference.

"Sports" is literally the first word in the tag line of the site.

It's a sports site. Everything else is secondary.

Now run along to the Complex forums.

Now you and I both know the origins of this message board so you made this statement just to argue semantics. The music discussions on this board start with Hip Hop and Black music in general.

:dwillhuh:

Yes, I do know the origins. Do you?

The site is named The Coliseum after The Coliseum (sports) sub-forum on SOHH. The Coli started after SOHH crashed during All-Star weekend.

So what are you talking about? :dahell:

It's a sports site, the sports section is literally 2x the size of the music section. The only larger sub-forum is The Locker Room (again, a sports reference) because it's off-topic. The largest dedicated sub-forum on the site, is the sports section.

When we don't control the entertainment system, yet produce the best entertainment, cross-pollination is going to happen regardless

Elvis was just doing Black music, he wasn't as good as any Black musicians he copied, but he didn't try to downplay Black people at all and he did have passion for his art and a good voice :manny:

A few years before his debut, the most popular pop singer was Johnnie Ray, he was actually way more open about how Black people were the reason he had a career at all, but no one noticed because the timing wasn't right, this was his biggest hit, written by a Black man, Churchill Colman

We’re talking about music fam. I’ve been apart of this site since it’s inception and I believe you migrated from SOHH just like I did. The Coliseum and Booth names come directly from SOHH. This sports message board sprouted from a hip hop music forum first and you know that. I’m convinced a lot of yall just like to go back and forth online.

Um, my guy....this isn't the music sub-forum.

This is The Locker Room, the off topic sub-forum. You said "an Elvis thread on a hip-hop message board"....it's not. It's not even the music part of the site.

Yes this site came from SOHH but again, it's a sports site. There's 7 million posts in The Booth and close to 12 million in The Coliseum which is for sports discussion.

Why do you think that is?

Again you’re arguing semantics. The bolded is the is only thing relevant in regards to the roots of this site.

It was a joke!
It's always been funny to me how Elvis never really played guitar, it was mostly a stage prop :mjlol:

And yes B.B. King would eradicate this fool with one single note :umad:
His biography is a straight up horror, a country mf with a good voice is fed pills, forced into a lifetime 360 deal and was used until it literally killed him

BB King loves Elvis too

he would though and has
