The pro bowlers Marino played with offensively were receivers he basically made and repeatedly made it there because of him. If anything, the only thing this shows is that Marino and Montana played with a more stable core.

And the game had LONG PAST Don Shula by the 80s'.

10 of the 17 pro-bowl appearances by Marino's offensive teammates were by offensive linemen.

We can argue all day the extent to which Mark Clayton and Mark Duper were "made" by Marino, but surely he didn't make the reputation of his offensive line

While you can argue about how good Clayton and Duper were, it's harder to argue about the skill-position guys that Montana played with. They continued their productivity after Montana got injured and left.

Marino O line productivity is skewed. His quick release, much like Peyton Manning's, makes up for subpar line play. Bruce Smith, the NFL's all time leading sacker, ONLY getting to Marino a total of nine times for his entire career wasn't because of some all world LT playing the left side. But the lazy manner by which OLineman are selected to the pro bowl, mostly looking at sack numbers overrates their play at times.

I won't argue about Montana....but I do know that Elway had 2nd tier good QB numbers in the 80s.

Marino Stans still salty he got his ass handed to him in the playoffs by Elway 38-3. I was at that game BTW.
Salty?

:mindblown:

Why is this based on emotions rather than coherent truth and looking at the rewriting of history for what it is?

You had a dude in here telling me Bernie Kosar wasn't Elways peer when Kosar actually put up better numbers.

Y'all talk about numbers but disregard his wins and super bowls like it don't mean nothing. So Marino's numbers are better but he couldn't get it done and elway was more clutch and that matters. Kosar couldn't beat elway in three attempts In the championship.. so foh.

How am I disregarding wins when I clearly say Elway came in with a better TEAM. The part that YOU continue to ignore like a good defense.

"Kosar couldn't beat Elway." :childplease:

fukk outta here with that QB vs. QB game comparisons. Kosar faced the Broncos defense, Elway the Browns defense...not this stupid shyt. As if its Kosar's fault this happened.

U act like manning vs Brady don't exist. Every big match pits qbs against one another. My point is the qb who got it done . how convenient u don't link the drive when elway had to march from their own 2 in the dog pound. Yeah the fumble happened tough luck. The next game they played we smoked em. Kosar was a good qb no doubt but no way he was better than John.

It doesn't. It's a media made creation that you're buying into like crap. When Brady lines up, who does he face? NOT MANNING. When Manning lines up, who does he face? NOT BRADY!

Just DUMB.

And Kosar put up better numbers than Elway in the 80s.

But he couldn't get to the big game in 3 attempts. So FOH! :win:

NO...the BROWNS couldn't get there. Somehow...you're blaming Kosar for Byner's fumble.

Second...I'm talking about the 80's and how Elway was overrated most of his career until he rode the TD train.

Keep making end results a tennis match up.

People like you is why I made this thread.

I know what u r saying but....

Elway was the better qb when it mattered most. U want a clutch qb or a qb who almost got it done. Elway was amazing to watch. Regardless of how his numbers portray him. That's what makes him great is that his numbers might seem pedestrian but he always seemed to come through when it mattered.

Dog....Kosar brought the Browns back and Byner fukked it up.

I still have this picture my man sketched for me somewhere.
