He's only overrated when people start putting him in the top 5 GOAT QBs of all time. No way he belongs there.

Nevermind guys like Marino, Montana, Peyton or Brady, he's not better than Steve Young. Or Favre (I don't even like Favre). Hell, I'd take Kurt Warner's peak over him. Jim Kelly was better IMO as well.
Jim Kelly

:what:

You tryin to tell me Elway couldn't run the K GUN??

Jim Kelly had Andre Reed, Thurman Thomas, James Lofton.. Bruce Smith on D..

Thats 4 Hall of famers and one potential one in Reed..

Elway was better than J.Kelly fukk that..

What HOFers did Elway have on offense in the 80s??

Kosar was his rival?

Denver beat Cleveland in both title games..

Kosar never beat them so I dont remember any rivalry between Kosar and Elway..

Browns Broncos??

Thats a different story
Yup....that was his rival.

Dog..he wasn't viewed on Montana or Marinos level. Don't change the 80s for me. He was more on Kosar level. Bernie actually put up better numbers than elway back then. It was Joe and Dan making all pro teams bruh. Elway was outside them

John Elway was arguably the most physically gifted QB to play in the NFL up until that point.

He could run and had a ROCKET for an arm.. I mean he had a hose..

The teams he had in Denver were good but they just weren't good enough.. I mean he was playin during the same era as the Niners, Bears and Giants who were loaded..

Not to mention how he did not get along with Dan Reeves and didn't like the offense he was in.

I saw him play his entire career. I can't put him with the QBs I mentioned even though he was the most physically gifted QB in that era. He had his moment of brilliance, much like Randall Cunningham briefly had his moment of brilliance. But I can't put him in the GOAT QB conversation.

The media keeps putting him in the conversation because of his career's narrative. How he came so close for so many years, and finally winning at the twilight of his career. It's a feel good story. And he's still a great QB, but does not belong in the GOAT conversation IMO.

No its because nobody had that kind of physical ability...

I'm not talkin numbers and SBs.. Those are TEAM accomplishments depending upon who you have around you..

I have never seen a QB throw the football like Elway in my entire life.. Only Favre comes close.

Montana didn't have a huge arm but his timing and anticipation is what makes him GOAT. Huge arms does not equal success. Peyton, Brady -- these guys don't have huge arms. Kyle Boller had a huge arm and he was :trash:. You can name a plethora of bust QBs with great arms and physical ability.

And let's not kid ourselves here, Elway had good teams. You don't go to the SB without having a good team around you.

Joe Montana is the greatest of all time :what:

And those Denver teams were good. But they weren't GOOD ENOUGH..
