depends on what statsJudging players strictly by stats in football is as dumb as it gets considering all the variables in the sport, this isnt baseball where stats tell the whole story

you wasting your time responding to that idiot.depends on what stats
judging a db's value by picks and passes defended dont tell you anything, same as sacks for DEs and LBs
looking at qb TDs and picks, there is no way to discount them. picks are picks and td's are td's. turnovers lose you games and passing TDs put points on the board.
you already were told that even by those standards back in the day, elway wasnt in the company of elites like montana or marino or even jim kelly
his career is best compared to warren moon, except without the rings elway got with shanny and TD.
no one saying he is a bad qb. people are just saying hes overrated since he is mentioned in top 5 and close to the top so much. how can a qb be top 5 when 2/3 of his career he had 1:1 TD:int ratio
if people were putting him around where warren moon is ranked, shyt would be much more fair.

moon isnt int marino, montana class as far as career performances go... sorry I dont really give a shyt about 'pure ability' in vacuum.Lost credibility right there....
MOON>>>>Elway.........and fukk your stats,,,,,They're worthless if you've never seen them play in their prime.......
MOON is in Marino, Montana class as far as pure ability and QB'ing is concerned......But yall don't know no better for real

The Broncos receiving core didn't suck though.I disagree with this. For one you got some QBs who pad their TD stats at the goalline in situations where most teams would run the ball. You see it a lot with Peyton where it can be first and goal and they're calling pass plays. So if you play with a coach who is run oriented a QB's TD numbers can take a big hit.
And if a QB is playing with a bad receiving core that can find themselves in situations where they are stuck trying to fit a ball in or throw their receivers open which can lead to more interceptions.
I wasn't speaking on the topic at hand but more so about if INTs and TDs could be used as viable tools to measure a QB.The Broncos receiving core didn't suck though.
