THE NEW ALBUM
Over the past couple of years people have been asking me for new music. I know it’s been a while since I’ve dropped something for you, and I appreciate all of the continuing support and patience that you have showed me over my career. I’ve already passed on a few record deals, and I've partnered with the GLOW365 alliance because we truly believe that the integrity of the music comes first. I have always been a believer in being a leader and trendsetter. The music I make comes strictly from me and how I feel, and I will never sacrifice who I am to conform to a trend. This new record is no different.

The funds from this campaign will give me the last push I need to make sure this record comes out early next year. It will also go towards the cost of promotion and setting up the forthcoming tour. The money will also make sure all of the rewards you see to the right make it into every single one of your hands.

Speaking of that, some of the rewards offered here are going to be one-time only products. Written lyrics from my hand, exclusive artwork on the new records and the last 27 hand numbered Elmatic vinyls left in world. There are also a few chances to come out to listening parties with me in cities around the world before the new record drops.

This is it…this one is all about us. This is our chance to show the world what my music and the people who love it are all about: pure, authentic, creative music…real hip–hop.

This is going to be a lot of work. Finishing the record, coordinating the details of the rewards, and setting up the tour is no simple task. But as you already know…when I put my mind to something failure is never an option. We’ve been working round the clock with photographers, graphic designers, clothing companies, and other collaborators to make sure the end result comes meets our expectations.

What the fukk dude got a kickstarter for his album? what on earth is this? i dont know wether to be impressed or embarrassed for him. Is he giving an EP or Mixtape of music away?

Its so new school its weird to me, i mean why dont you sell some music to make money. If your fanbase is loyal enough for a kickstarter to work one would expect they would be loyal enough to purchase your music. I dont know marketing, maybe it makes sense, perhaps people wont pay for music but they will buy into the experience of being part of his movement. but at the end of the day he is raising money to make an album, so if his fans wont buy his music, he is just raising money to throw it away.

What the fukk dude got a kickstarter for his album? what on earth is this? i dont know wether to be impressed or embarrassed for him. Is he giving an EP or Mixtape of music away?

Its so new school its weird to me, i mean why dont you sell some music to make money. If your fanbase is loyal enough for a kickstarter to work one would expect they would be loyal enough to purchase your music. I dont know marketing, maybe it makes sense, perhaps people wont pay for music but they will buy into the experience of being part of his movement. but at the end of the day he is raising money to make an album, so if his fans wont buy his music, he is just raising money to throw it away.

I never expected Elzhi to make use of Kick Stater. I'm not feeling this. I have the most trouble believing that Elzhi needs to go this route for an album. No support from Fatbeats? Duck Down? Whatever label that put out Elmatic couldn't come through. I'm not even feeling the perks outside of the CD collection. Even then, it a wack deal. You get all the old CDs but not the new one that's being released. That really irks me. Elzhi is in the group of artists that has lost me as well. I don't mind taking your time but I began to lost interest when he redid Illmatic and then proceeded to take another extended break. SMH.

This façade associated with the phrase "real fans", "true fans" etc is a bunch of malarkey. Crowd funding is dope as hell and I have no problem with it. I do have a problem with an established artist using it to make an album. Cats are making albums in their home studios and paying to get it mixed and mastered. Ka made The Night's Gambit by himself. Paid for the mix and master, produced the CD and vinyl and sells it all himself through his website.

Again, Elzhi is making an album. This isn't a book that he trying to get published. It's not a movie or something that is so far out of his reach. Let's not church this up and call it what it is. Let me ask you, have you already pledged some funds?
