Embiid is the MVP, followed by Giannis. Jokic can't be a 6th seed winning MVP

Did you happen to miss when Westbrook won MVP (within the last decade) on a 6th seed?
Let’s not be disingenuous. Westbrooks season hadn’t been done since Oscar (despite the shameful stat padding) that was the narrative.
This is a golden age for big men, I saw Ken Bannister play center for the Knicks…don’t give a damn if Joker wins, all 3 are deserving.

How do you figure I'm being disingenuous?

If you're talking because Westbrook averaged an arbitrary amount of box score stats, how does that even matter, when he was still a 6th seed? Jokic is averaging better box score numbers and on better efficiency, yet his seeding is still used against him. Why is that a valid excuse for Westbrook but not Jokic?

Low key it should be Ja , all things considered

but the fact that they even better without him probably takes him out the mix :mjlol:

Whenever Dallas manages to get like a 1-3 seed luka will win in the future

Y'all had no problem with Westbrook winning MVP on a 6th seed all because he averaged a triple-double.

:hubie:

Facts.

the problem with using a wins argument against jokic even with the minimal difference in team records is hes been on the floor for more wins than either embiid or giannis to this point. jokic 45 wins, embiid 44 wins, giannis 43 wins.

This post is being thoroughly ignored :russ:

As a fan and African I personnaly would like Embiid to win, especially since Giannis and Joker already have won MVP before. But Jokic is 100% deserving.

My argument is that westbrooks MVP was most heavily weighted on the generational nature and nostalgia of the achievement rather than seeding. Hell my mother called his ass out for padding just to get the MVP. I actually agree with you, by that criterion Joker is deserving.

OP is just like a lot of people who remember those years Kobe and LeBron were putting up great numbers with trash teams and lost MVP to Nash and Dirk. That’s what it’s really about. A precedent was set and people resent it being reversed for Jokic. Notice how there’s more blowback this year than last year. You guys are all focusing on his stats and the circumstances of this season when the argument for MVP has always been based on narratives and the predominant one is wins. This is what Ja was getting at and what Draymond is getting at.

I think a lot of you think that you’re smarter than the anti-analytics crowd and are ignoring that for over a decade people have argued for looking at who has done the most and who is the best player and that got shot down again and again. OP didn’t create that precedent. Jokic is deserving but I’m about consistency and if we are overturning precedent I need an explanation of why and it’s got to be better than that’s just how we feel. Because if he’s the one seed next year and his numbers take a step back because Murray and MPJ are there — he would still be the odds on favorite unless someone was within 5 wins of him.

his team has 48 wins and could get 50. Beyond that, someone already showed he’s played in more wins then the other two candidates.

if it was only about skin, luka would be in the conversation but he isn’t. I wasn’t for nash winning but Jokic is very legit. Almost 50 wins without Murray and porter? Who would’ve had denver anywhere near that, before it happened. Great stats on 58% shooting, while taking 3s.

He can win it but he’s not the best player in the league. Giannis…he’s just suffering from voter fatigue.

Bron was winning MVPs with basically 27-7-7...Joker is putting up an absurd 27-14-8 on 58% shooting

Joker has the worst supporting cast of the top 6-8 MVP candidates...this shouldn't be a debate

different league, bron's 27-7-7 then would be 32-11-12 now. Faster pace, more possessions, more 3 pt shooting. 2009 Lebron in todays league would be like having player 99 in nba live 95 in the league now.

The Harden trade cost Embiid his MVP essentially. They were going to win 55 games or so then harden comes and fukks everything up.
